Considering Knee Resurfacing

This is my first post to this group, so let me say a little bit about my reason

for being here.

My husband is a candidate for knee replacement/resurfacing. He's considering

resurfacing because I had such a good outcome with hip resurfacing several years

ago while it was still in clinical trials.

There are at least a couple of doctors within the group he's been going to who

do knee resurfacing. They are Dr. Covino and Dr. Nadaud with Knoxville

Orthopedic Clinic in Knoxville, TN; however, we don't know where to begin to

find out about their track records. Obviously we can ask them, but we'd like to

get as unbiased information as possible.

Would some of you be willing to offer your opinions on how to find the best

doctor for knee resurfacing? I've had two procedures for different reasons that

were still in trials, both of which involved traveling away from Knoxville - one

to Columbia, SC, and the other to France. Both of the doctors I used had 2,000+

procedures under their belts; I'd like to know that my husband isn't a doctor's

" first rodeo " ! ;o)

Thanks for any advice you may offer.

,

Many MDs' now have a site to Google. It may only give you what they want you to

hear but it is some info. I kept talking to people and the same MDs' kept

coming up. I did find the Hospital I wanted to be in also. I didn't want a big

one I couldn't find my way around in so I found a Surgeon who did Min. invasive

at the Hospital I choose. Hospitals also have web sites. I never did find out

their problems but that info has to be available as I know many who have talked

about it. I have limited access with my Web TV.

Hope you have good luck.
