Guest guest
I have the same thing.. At first I thought something was wrong.. It was about 7-8 weeks after surgery (when the swelling had gone down) that I began to notice it and hear it. I thought something broke in it.. The ortho told me that each one makes it's own noise and that it was fine. I had my other knee done a year later.. Due to complications, I had to have 3 revisions in 6 months.. I ended up with a different type of implant in the knee.. It has a rod that goes from the base of my femur to mid way up my leg.. Then the other rod.. Attached to the bottom part of the " knee " goes from the top of my tibia to almost my ankle. The infection ate away my MCL and a lot of bone so I ended up with this instead of the smaller implant I had. While it does not make any noise.. It is kind of weird.. It is like my legs are not in sync.. They feel to me like they move differently.. Maybe I am just imagining it. My first TKR is pretty loud when I walk and I have asked folks if they can hear it.. But.. While it seems loud to me.. They do not notice it unless I ask them to listen for it. I am happy to have two legs to walk on so I am fine with any sound it wants to make.. Geeez, all this money, and it isn't a smooth movement..... My brother has an artificial hip, that makes aloud clicking noise when he sits down -- it's very loud -- sounds like he's snapping his fingers. So, when he's in a group and sits, folks think " He's just another arrogant lawyer throwing his weight around! " .... But, I love him. Guest guest
I am sorry.. I certainly did not mean to terrify anyone. My problem began when I had a fall 24 hours after surgery.. If that would not have happened.. I would not have had all the issues I am sure. I had ted hose on my legs and the tech came in to help me get out of bed and walk to the bathroom with the walker. She did not think to put the " footies " with the tread strips on the bottom over my feet to cover the ted hose up and give me some traction.. Neither did I.. I was on a lot of meds.. When I walked a few steps.. I began to slide on the tile floor.. To make a long story short.. I did the splits.. Injured my leg really bad. I was on so much meds I really did not think I had hurt my leg. Lets just say when I did it.. I really did it. So folks.. Don't be afraid because of what happened to me.. It was just very bad luck and stupidity on my part and the tech who did not notice that I had nylon socks more or less on a tile floor. I will make sure not to discuss it and upset anyone.. That certainly was not my intention. I was only trying to explain why I had two different knee implants. I hope everyone is having a great day!! Guest guest
Eileen, well it seems now I've done it, again ...... I sure wasn't faulting you for your discussion..... When I said " terrorize " , that was a poor attempt at humor....... That said, you certtainly have had a tough time, and when I read how it all began with a fall, that reminded me of a near-fall When they got me up for the first time, I didn't walk 25ft, with a walker, and someone at my side, when I said, " I'm goin' to faint folks. " .... They slipped a wheelchair under me, and I stayed in the hospital for 10 days. The ol' blood pressure was dropping to 50...... Now, all is good, but the " down time " has been a surprise...... Have you fully recovered? Bill ================================================================ > > I am sorry.. I certainly did not mean to terrify anyone. Guest guest
I Can Feel A " Hitch " In The New Knee Had a TKR eight weeks ago. All is going well, but I'm sure I feel a very slight " hitch " as the leg goes foreward while walk. There no pain, it does effect my gait, but I can feel a little something, I'm calling a " hitch " . Do I need some warranty work, or is this common? Bill
