The Red Star nutritionl yeast products don't have any chromium (< 0.5

mcg).

The Swanson Vitamins' Brewer's Yeast has chromium, 197 mcg per

serving. I use it and KAL brand nutritional yeast.

Labs nutritional yeast has chromium plus several other minerals in it.

Well, I bought a pound of nutritional yeast, remembering that it was

recommended in the diabetes book. When I reread the book, it

qualified that the yeast should contain chromium. I did not see a

value for chromium listed on the container, although at least 20 or

30 other things were listed. Does all nutritional yeast contain

chromium or is it added? I was looking for a natural source. I

bought the Whole Foods brand. I'm sure it will be good for B

vitamins, etc. but still wonder about the chromium.

Thanks,

You are right! Could you explain nutritional yeast to me and the difference

between the two. Thanks

How sealed is it and does the container keep out light?

It was sealed tightly for several of those years, in its original 5# heavy

plastic tub.

It's dry and it's protein - that does not deteriortate easily.

Probably fine if there have been no insects etc getting access.

Was it sealed?

The info I found says it is deactivated yeast. It says that it's a commercially

produced yeast. I'm still uneasy about ingesting it until I know more. How can

deactivated yeast be that nutritious, and be natural - like a bundle of kale?

I'm not against eating it, I just don't know enough about it, it sounds like any

other processed thing they are calling food. I am sooo open to being wrong,

Hahahaha.

I like to use it on my raw kale chips. I coat the kale pieces lightly with olive

oil, nutritional yeast, and sea salt. Then I pop the kale into the dehydrator on

115 for about 3 hours. :-)

Oh, my - I LOVE the stuff! I love it on popcorn, on cooked brown rice, on steamed veggies. I make broccoli and cauliflower soup with my VM and add nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor. I swear, could eat the stuff by the spoonful, lol! I love it so much, I just bought a book from Amazon to learn other ways to use it (just got the book, haven't tried any recipes yet, but will do so this weekend). I can't think of the title offhand, but I think it has "Uncheese" in the title...FrannyOn May 4, 2012, at 5:28 AM, flnancy1958 wrote:

Yeah, don't let your husband near it, mine dumps it on much of his food

and salads, says it tastes like cheese and I keep having to go back to

store for more. LOL

Can it aggravate a yeast problem, or is that a dumb question? On May 4, 2012, at 9:25 AM, Lea Ann Savage <lsavage@...> wrote:
