Guest guest
I had mine revised. I had worn out the plastic liner. The surgeon called it " re-treading " . The second time around they put a much thicker liner in. The liner replacement was an easy surgery to bounce back from for me. Did your Surgeon tell you exactly what parts have worn out? Guest guest
When they do a knee revision, do they replace the whole thing or just the 'plastic parts'? Is that usually what wears out in them? BARB knee replacement revision Has anyone had a a total knee replacement revision? My 15 year old implant has worn out and must be replaced. Guest guest
With mine, just the plastic liner, as that was what had worn out. Each person will be different in what they need " revised " . Your surgeon should tell you long before you roll down the surgical hallway just exactly what knee part needs repaired/replaced -- and why! Btw, when I say I had just the plastic liner replaced --- none of the other parts were removed. The prothesis is multiple pieces, thus making it easier to repair or replace parts as needed. They did the same with my hip replacement when it needed fixing -- replaced the liner and did some bone grafting behind the cup, but the rest of the prothesis parts never moved from original insertion. Guest guest
The 'plastic' cartilege has worn through...makes a really loud strange noise! Doesn't hurt bu Dr. says the implant will have to be replaced due to space caused by the shifting caused by the worn out plastic. ugh! I will quiz him some more now that my head is clear... > > I had mine revised. I had worn out the plastic liner. The surgeon called > it " re-treading " .
