I agree that the hip replacement restrictions with the lateral approach are

difficult to get use to. Sleeping flat on my back about did me in. Plus

no comfortable position to sit. Ice does not help that much on the hip

either........but I am sure glad that I had it done. BARB

It's kind of a tough call. Of course I just had the one hip, but since my

knees were already so bad, it hurt to do anything. I also hated all of the

restrictions at the beginning. With the knees, it was two at the same time,

so that is hard to compare since I did not have a good leg to stand on. As

with most things, as time passes, you sort of forget a lot. Basically I can

say if you are in a lot of pain and injections, etc., don't help anymore, we

are lucky to have the option of a replacement. It is relatively safe and

has generally a good outcome.
