As stated in this article mine was superficial as the doctor put it. What my doc mentioned was a common cause is a reaction to the stitches, which in my case is most likely the case. I don't smoke or have any of the other conditions listed from this site. I think this information covers most any surgery. I have a friend who had implants put in after a mastectomy and she got an infection. It was so involved she had to have the implants removed and redone and it happened again! Now after over a year she is going to a specialist for this and will make yet another attempt to have it done without infection. The trick is to catch the infection as soon as possible.
