Guest guest
Hi Barb, I've been getting patted down from way before my first joint replacement due to my neurostimulator and my experience has always been not that they ignore the cards but just know that if you have one then the just call for a pat down and not go further. Maybe it's different for a male but the pat down never bothered me. Guest guest
Hi Barb, In 2009, I flew out of Dulles Intl. Airport in D.C., to Chicago Midway and then to Will , Okla. City with my new hip replacement and the card at the ready even tho I had heard TSA ignored them, told them I had a replacement, went thru the scanner and it didn't buzz or anything. I understand some of the new scanners recognize the " metal " and aren't set off (that's how it was explained to me). Maybe now requirements are tightened up. Guest guest
I have set the scanners off with my knee every time go through them. I have asked about the card and was told that the card does nothing, when the beep goes off you get scanned. I always say I have a knee replacement and that quickly sets them at ease and the scanning goes quickly. The only place that does not set off the scanner with the knee was Japan. -- Don Bowen KI6DIU http://www.braingarage.com/Dons/Travels/journal/Journal.html
Guest guest
Hi Lynn, The scanner does not go off when I get on the ship to go to England. Perhaps they change the settings so that people with replacements just go through. The ship would never sail if they had to pat down all us oldies with new parts! Flying, however, is different, and I have always set off the scanner. All the best, Joan ________________________________ From: Lynn <lynnf_99@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Sun, June 5, 2011 2:09:26 PM Subject: Re: reply to Barb Hi Barb, In 2009, I flew out of Dulles Intl.
