Guest guest
I personally would get supercritical antioxidant complex from New Chapter and then buy the ashwaganda seperately. You will still come out much cheaper than the protandim product. I have to wonder just how much they paid 20/20 for that story? http://www.newchapter.info/product/supercritical.lasso?-database=NC_Products & -la\ yout=Product & -response=%2fproduct%2fproduct.lasso & -recordID=32884 & -search Ashwaganda increases glutathione & counteracts too much copper Listmates, Here's a summary of the study below; it seems that Ashwaganda (present in the new product Protandim, as well as BrainChild's Herbathione, and of course, available separately)

Ashwagandha also increases glutathione--well, that's a plus!!! Ashwagandha increases glutathione peroxidase activity [glutathione peroxidase is an enzyme in the body that is a powerful scavenger of free radicals] and inhibits lipid peroxidation and protein oxidative modification induced by copper. The effects are similar to those of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and mannitol. The results indicate the therapeutic potential of Ashwagandha in aging and copper-induced pathophysiological conditions. Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) attenuates antioxidant defense in aged spinal cord and inhibits copper induced lipid peroxidation and protein oxidative modifications. Drug Metabol Drug Interact. 2003;19(3):211-22. Ashwagandha is classified in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, as a rasayana, a group of plant-derived drugs which promote physical and mental health, augment resistance of the body against disease and diverse adverse environmental factors, revitalize the body in debilitated conditions and increase longevity. We investigated the effects of Ashwagandha on copper-induced lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes in aging spinal cord of Wistar rats. The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) decreased significantly in the spinal cord from adult to aged mice. Treatment with Ashwagandha successfully attenuated GPx activity and inhibited lipid peroxidation in a dose dependent manner. Ashwagandha inhibited both the lipid peroxidation and protein oxidative modification induced by copper. These effects were similar to those of superoxide dismutase and mannitol. The results indicate the therapeutic potential of Ashwagandha in aging and copper-induced pathophysiological conditions. http://healthyherbs.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ & sdn=healthyherbs & zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.raysahelian.com%2Fashwagandha.html http://www.thefreedictionary.com/glutathione%20peroxidase
Guest guest
Hello Ms. , My name is NavinKumar Puram and I am writing this mail from Bangalore, India. I have a son, who is 3 years and 3 months old " Born on Feb 7, 2002 " . Doctors suspect that my son has Autism. They did not give any degree for the problem, however they say it may be a low degree of Autism. We are currently sending him to Montessori school. The school started on 2nd June of this year. The school has a special trainer for Autism children. Still we have lot of hope on god, we believe my son has developmental delay and not Autism. My son underwent Mercury testing on 12-Aug-2004. Sample of nails where taken for the test. The test was conducted in Hyderabad, India. The report has following findings. Start of report Test Description : Mercury_nail Value Observed : 2.07 ug/g Normal level : < 1 ug/g Method: ICP-AES Principle: Based on SOP No 26/ICP-AES/10 Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) technique: The aquoues acidified sample is aspirated into the plasma generated using /argon gas. The specific analyte ions are detected by charged – coupled device made from silicon chip at the specific wavelength. The concentration of the analyte is compared with the values of standards (obtained on a linearity curve) and reported in the units available for the reference ranges. End of report Is this mercury level dangerous for my son. Should we sought medical help for this reason. Can somone kindly help us in finding some solution? My son responds to certain things and not for many. He still does not say many words. Is there any herb / medicine to reduce mercury in the brain. Thank you Kind Regards navin Listmates, Here's a summary of the study below; it seems that Ashwaganda (present in the new product Protandim, as well as BrainChild's Herbathione, and of course, available separately) http://www.protandim.com http://www.lifelinetherapeutics.com/index.htm http://www.brainchildnutritionals.com/Herbathionex.html http://www.IllnessIsOptioinal.com http://www.beyond-a-century.com http://www.iherb.com helps in conditions where there is too much copper--our kids have too much copper!
