Guest guest
Hi , But my question still is to treat or not. Sure benefits of clearing this is good, but the side affects worry me. I have dealt with alot in my life , but for some reason in the back of my head I don't want to treat. Are you doing treatment?? Guess what I'm looking for is how other people went through or are going through it. Thanks for writing and I get what you are saying. Guest guest
Theresa one thing I feel I Know is what you believe you will create. If you are familiar with placebo studies the person's state of mind affects the outcome. The power of conscious thought is very underrated and little understood. You can take a low dose aspirin and if your in a certain mind, it will offer you all kinds of healing energies. See Theresa, health is a state of mind. No thing external will work until and unless a person gets a grip on who they are in relationship to whatever it is. This is why many therapies do not work. People do not believe they have any real power. People rely on externals exclusively to heal. Within our bodies everything for healing is there. The first thing is our thoughts. What you believe you receive. As I said earlier try to calm your mind. In Peace, Help I have just found out my docs want to treat my hep c which i found out i had in 2004. Guest guest
Amen....i liked your response. i am fixing to start treatment in a few weeks and i am trying to have a positive attitude about it because i believe that a positive attitude is most important in a situation like this. none of us asked to have this disease and are devistated to learn that we have it. i have talked to all kinds of people who have had the treatment and they are all different. Mine I hope is not bad, but if so it is worth the fact that this may rid my body of this terrible disease, Its better than the alternative. Right? __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Theresa, I have read your message, and all of the responses that you have gotten, and I am facing the same thing right now, with not only myself, but both of my children, and my husband. I went to a hepatologist, at the Liver Center, in Houston, Tx., and asked him what I should do. He said that they would not even consider treating my children at the age they are, due to the side effects being far too hard on their bodies. He said that there were things that I could do to keep their viral count down, such as changes in diet, herbal medicines (antioxidants), like Milk thistle, and Alpha Lipoic Acid. DON'T DRINK, was a very strong response from him. Red meats are harder to digest, so you might want to stick with poultry, fish, etc. Water, with a bit of lemon has an antioxidant effect, also. As far as treatment for an adult, he said that the treatment would not get rid of the virus at this time, but that in a few years, they should have more information, and possibly a cure, and that I should wait. My good friend has this also, and he has cirrhosis, at this point, and he regrets not having taken the treatment, but I know others who have taken it, and they had to quit their jobs, and are a bit better, but are still fighting the disease. There is no one that can tell us whether we should or shouldn't take the treatment, as is it such an individual thing, but I did read one message that said that a woman who had undergone the treatment (from our group), and it did not help. She lost her life anyway. I am going to listen to the specialist, and hold out for something better. They are making leaps and bounds with research, and I have faith that a cure will be found to get rid of this for good. You should do what you feel comfortable with, and listen to the real experts. Keep your chin up. SBTHERESA <Rodalways70512@...> wrote: I have just found out my docs want to treat my hep c which i found out i had in 2004. My big question is should i do it???? Guest guest
Hi Gillian, I am sorry to hear of your problems and pain and scoliosis. From what I've been told, the loss of feeling in one's legs and private region can be considered a medical emergency, and can be caused by back problems (one example is lumbar herniated disks),among other things. Since your most recent acute problem, has anyone taken a x-ray or MRI of your spine? Keeping in mind that I'm not a doctor and don't know your entire medical history to know if it's entirely appropriate, I'd look into getting a spine x-ray and an evaluation by whatever medical professional you can get to quickly that is familiar with spines. Not to scare you, but I believe that problems higher up in the spine or spinal cord can cause problems in the lower body as well. While many of us here at this group have scoliosis, the group is designed primarily for support of those with problems caused by nonsegmental (Harrington rod) instrumentation. Since it sounds like you don't have any spinal instrumentation currently, you would probably find more of the type of information you are looking for if you join a Scoliosis support group or a spine support group. Here are a couple of sites that you might find useful: Scoliosis Treatment/messages http://www.scoliosis.org/forum/index.php http://www.spine-dr.com/site/BB/index.cfm I hope that you will be able to find a medical professional to help you. Guest guest
Hi Isabel, Do you know EFT? If not you can download the manual at www.emofree.com and learn to do it in about an hour I'd say. The best thing to do I think is to simply tap on 'Even though I'm so hurt my husband has left me for another woman I deeply and completely accept myself'. That may be good enough but there may also be more specific aspects involved such as 'I feel betrayed' etc. The thing to do is just search your own feelings and tap on what comes up. Have you thought about contacting an EFT therapist? That would be the best thing by far. You should be able to find one near you from the website above. It may seem like the pain could never ever possibly go away, especially not by a silly tapping process. But just bear in mind, according to EFT, even the most intense awful emotions are simply blockages of energy, that's all they are. They even, I think, lose some of their intensity when you consider that and best of all when you tap they evaporate. All the best, Alistair > > Hello my name is Isabel I'm so hurt my husband of 17 years has left me > for another women. I can't think right I lost my job because of this. I > don't know what to do. Guest guest
Hi, You probably are gaining alot of muscles but, 15 lbs in 4 months is on the slow side I think. We should be losing 1-2lbs a week or 4-8 lbs a month on average. So, my opinion is filler' up! With that awesome work-out schedule and a fill, you will really kick-start your weight loss!! Good luck.......Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "benyam02" <sheegog@...> HELLO BANDSTERS I HOPE EVERYONE IS LOSING LOSING. I NEED HELP. Guest guest
Hi I am a newbie. I was banded on 6-16-06. Right now is a healing and adjusting time. The weight that you lose before your first fill is a Bonus. Of couse we are going to lose some weight. We only had broth, water, protien drinks and juice for the first 2 weeks. I lost 15 pounds during that time. And didnt expct to keep it off once I stared the other stages. But I have. The real losing is coming after you get your fill. " Be patient " , as Ive been told. I know its hard. But you'll soon see the weight flying off after the proper fill. Take care. KIra ---- mchlanna <mchlanna@...> wrote: > > Bandster, > > I need help. Guest guest
, If you are not getting in enough calories your body will stop losing weight. Do not stop taking the proetien shakes, you need them, you are not getting in enough nutrition so you need the shakes. You will not be losing weight at the rate of 10 lbs a week, it is not a realistic expectation or a healthy one. Not even bypass patients lose at this rate. Right now your focus needs to be on healing, do not worry about the weight loss in this stage. Your body is healing and you need to get as much nutrition as you can even on this liquids stage. At this stage (week3) you may also add the pureed fruits daily. If you are still very restricted for this you can have the fruits that practically melt in your mouth like watermelon for example. Your goal is 800 to 1000 calories a day, right now it may be dififcult but as you add more foods it will get easier. Nina mchlanna <mchlanna@...> wrote: Bandster,I need help. I do feel my clothes looser and I feel great, but why don't the pounds come off what are we doing wrong. Today is our 18 day since the surgery. Do we need to add something to our diet or maybe remove the protein drink? I added the protein drink because, I was just feeling too light headed and was ready to pass out. If anyone can suggest something, please do so. I don't want to feel discourage or like a failure. Thanks, Nina Eguia Patient Coordinator, Dr Aceves888 344 3916 , 619-962-8142nina_eguia@... Guest guest
Thanks Nina, I needed to hear that.nina eguia <nina_eguia@...> wrote: , If you are not getting in enough calories your body will stop losing weight. Guest guest
//I am having a really bad food day.// We all have these. Some are worse then others. What foods have been getting stuck? // I can't keep anything down. // I really want to help but I need more information. Did you just wake up and you could not eat or drink or did you try to eat something and then PB'd? If you just woke up restricted and did nothing to cause it, it could be " that time " and perhaps you are a little more restricted then normal. If you PB'd something and then tried to eat again (and PB'd again), you may have irritated your stoma. This may be why you can not even get water down. I think when this happened to me, Nina suggested taking small sips of warm liquid (tea, water) every 10-15 min. when I say small I mean like a tablespoon at a time. If you are still not able to keep this down, Dr A told me to not drink anything for a few hours. This will give your stoma time for the swelling to go down. //Has anyone ever had this problem and how long does it last?// This happened to me but it was right after surgery. It was just my body's way of reacting to a foreign object. I panicked and ended up in the ER getting an IV. I thought I was going to die from dehydration. If only I had listened to Dr A and Nina when they said it would go away. Please keep in mind this is just my opinion based on my experience. I am not a Dr, nurse or any other medical professional. If you truly fear your band or your health may be in jeopardy, call Nina immediately. 7/18/05 280/180/

Guest guest
Hi . I see where you've mentioned " that time " . Can you elaborate on your experience. Other than the regular misery that comes once a month, is there something else we pre-ops should be aware of? Thanks, . > > //I am having a really bad food day.// > We all have these. Guest guest
//Other than the regular misery that comes once a month, is there something else we pre-ops should be aware of? // Some people feel more restriction on or around " that time. " I usually notice this a day or 2 before " that time " . I just wake up and it feels like I had a fill overnight. For me, it only lasts a couple of days. For others, it may last longer. I am not sure why this happens. Maybe your body retains water and everything swells up. This might cause your stoma to swell up (making the band tighter). Nina might be able to better answer why this happens. 7/18/05 280/180/
Guest guest
Thank you so much for the info . Sounds like a win win situation to me. A free fill once a month, not too shabby. Hey, I'll take it where I can get it. Thanks again. . > > //Other than the regular misery that comes once a month, is there > something else we pre-ops should be aware of? // > > Some people feel more restriction on or around " that time. Guest guest
I have found that there are always good and bad days. I just had my 3rd fill yesterday and I am going threw the same thing. I just take small sips of Isopure. I did get a cheese stick down... I really needed some calories. I was banded on 02-10-06. Hang in there. Sometimes it can last up to a week. But, usually it only last a couple of days.
Guest guest
I was in a rut as well the past few weeks where the scales wouldnt tip, what I started doing was eating little healthy snacks every 2 hours between meals, so I would have grapes/apple/nectarine before lunch and then have maybe a snack size tuna kit before I headed out to the gym. If you can boost your protein in between meals that will help, also change up your exercise. I decided one day of the week I would swim at my local gym's pool and it seemed to help. I've also started eating higher protein in the AM, I'll have like 3 chicken nuggets which is about 120 cal but 12g of protein, then my 1/2 sandwich with turkey or chicken, then something high in protein in the evening...like Fish. Kinda change things up a bit and see how it works...give the body chance to adjust. You'll be surprised cause all of a sudden I had dropped 4lbs which seemed over night. Also, drink lots of water...it aids in losing weight. My gym produces these flyers and it says that sometimes we think we are hungry when in fact we need water...so drink water if you feel a twinge of hunger to see if that is what your body really needed. Take Care! Guest guest
Dear Chrissy, When I told my beloved husband that I was going to have the lapband done, he replied with most of the same comments that your honey gave you. I love you anyway, I'm too concerned about your health, etc.... I have to be honest, the first few weeks were a little tense at the Household. He couldn't believe that I would ever do something he asked me not to do, and I couldn't believe that he would ever ask me NOT to do something that I was convinced that I HAD to do to survive. He sulked, I sulked, we had a few heated discussions about it, I complained to my parents, he complained to my in-laws, and we both told the other to " get over it " on more than one occasion. When he told me that he loved me just the way I was, and didn't want to risk losing me on the operating table, I asked if he would realllllllly feel that much better if I dropped dead next year from complications of my morbid obesity. ( Actually, I had to use that line on my parents, too......I believe in recycling whenever possible!) I never expected that he would go with me, especially since he was opposed to it in the first place, and when I returned from Mexicali he didn't ask about the procedure, at least not at first. Within a few weeks, as the weight was coming off, and I was careful to only talk about the positive effects that I was experiencing, but not the specific pound issues- for example, i'd say " Gosh, i have a lot of energy tonight, wanna go for a walk? " he slowly started asking questions about the lapband, about how I felt, and asking information seeking ( instead of argument provoking) questions. Now, he will do things like notice that the protein bars I like are on sale, and pick up a package. Or smile at me when I am leaving for work and comment on my " new " outfit ( meaning something that has been in the storage closet for years). Thankfully, we have also gotten to the point that we are completely over the conflict that we initially had about this issue. I can tease him and tell him that I'm glad he finally quit being such a a** about this, and he will tease back and tell me that the next time I decide to have some sort of surgical procedure he is allowed to spend the equal amount of money on a big screen tv.... Hang in there. Even the people that we love the most are entitled to be jerks from time to time. It makes them hard to live with, but we do owe them the opportunity to see if they can pull themselves out of it and turn into decent caring human beings again. <g> But, in the end, it is YOUR body. You are the one who has to live with yourself, and if this is the path that you are meant to take, take it. Life is toooooo short to go through it being obese, unhappy, unable to enjoy life and struggling with being a second class citizen. Best of luck to you, and to your loved one, > > I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO THIS FOR A WHILE. AND WHEN IFOUND DR.A I WAS > SO EXCITED. I FINALLY GOT APPROVED FOR THE LOAN.
