Featured Presenter: Dr. Gerenser is the Executive Director of the Eden II Program, a state-of-the-art school and comprehensive treatment facility serving children and adults with autism spectrum disorders throughout New York City and Long Island. Dr. Gerenser received her Master’s Degree at the Ohio State University, and her Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the City University of New York Graduate Center. She is co-author of the interactive CD-ROM entitled “Behavioral Programming for Children with Autism.†Dr. Gerenser is president of the New York State Association for Behavior Analysis and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council for the Organization for Autism Research. She sits on the advisory boards of several schools and programs for individuals with autism throughout the United States and abroad. In addition, she presents regularly nationally and internationally on autism and related topics. Dr. Gerenser received the “Lifetime Achievement Award†from the Nassau-Suffolk Autism Society, the Excellence in Behavior Analysis Award from the New York State Association for Behavior Analysis, as well as numerous other awards and recognition for her work with children and adults with autism. Conference General Overview: Dr. Gerenser will be presenting for two days. Friday’s conference will be dedicated to speech and communication issues and interventions for individuals with autism, while Saturday’s topic will focus on developing play skills and social skills.
