I'm the new immigrant that's been waiting to get my medical card, and I finally did by the way, I have an appointment to see Dr. Ishak in Sudbury, Ontario the 4th of Feb. My brother-in law lives in London, we were kind of hoping I'd be sent there, but Sudbury is far enough, 5 hour drive. I've also learned Dr. Ishak is a plastic surgeon, and I've heard nothing but good about him, so I feel a bit better. I read the CT report in my Dr. office the other day, we've known about this for over a year, the CT was done way back in July, so it's already more than 6 months old, the two words that stuck out in the report were " extensive " and " attic " can anyone please tell me about " attic " ? Extensive pretty well explains itself. This appointment is for a consult, hearing test etc... I'll keep you all posted as to when the surgery will be, my Doctor did tell me I would most likely have the mastoid removed, and most of the back of my ear. Has anyone else had this happen? Today is the 23rd, so I'm hoping it goes well with Dr. Sukerman. Guest guest
Hi Jan I meant to reply tot his a few days ago but didnt have time. I believe " sattic " refers to the upuer area of the canal? My daughter Alyssa has this as well, and her doctor kind of drew it out for us after her last surgery. I believe it's when the c-toma grows upwards towards the brain instead of (or in addition to) inward towards the middle ear. If you (or anyone else) find out any more info on " attic " c-toma, I would appreciate you forwarding it to me. Thanks. > > Hello: Well, I finally heard back from my ENT, the > > one who had refused to do my surgery because he was > > " getting bad vibes " from me. Guest guest
The middle ear, or area behind the ear drum that contains the ossicles (small bones x 3) is called the tympanum. the " attic " is also called the epitympanum and is the upper portion of this area.
