Have you tried to look into Vocational Rehab in your area, or possibly a United Way?

I don't have much advice on the monetary end of things, but make sure

that this new doctor is someone that has the best possible credentials

available. Check him or her out on the following URL:

http://www.entnet.org/ent_otolaryngologist.cfm

Make sure this new doctor is truly an experienced

otologist/neurotologist and don't settle for anything less. You need to

get this right - sooner than later.

Just a thought ... are there social services that can help her find a

job with benefits? It would slow down the pursuit of college, but it

wouldn't stop it. The unemployment office may have some guidance.

Thanks I will look him up. She can find a job it is hard for her to keep a job , most people in her age group do not understand what the lack of hearing does and even though her piers know she is hearing impaired there is a great deal of misunderstandings that are niether her or her piers fault. The sad thing is that even if she got a job with benefits this is now a pre-exsisting condition and no insurance company will cover it. I am however talking to the physician , Hopefully an agreement can be made, I don't want to not pay at all I just can't afford it all at once. Thanks for you quick response and support."

Hi,

I am a nurse and worked at a hospital that accepted anyone, insurance or not. The accounting office would work the bill out depending on your income. In the meantime patients were advised to apply with the county clinic to be seen and referred to a specialist.

There must be a system other than Medicaid for your daughter. It is not always free, but it is for people who do not have insurance.

Call the local county hospital and they should be able to help direct you.

Good Luck,

The plan we are going through is with the hospital , I guess being an anxious mom It is taking so long to hear back from anyone. I know that everything will work out well, it just does seem ; to get help there are so many walls to move and mountains to climb . We applied at the hospital over 3 months ago and we are told that it may take another 2-3 months to get assistance. Thank You so muchnels4487@... wrote: Hi, I am a nurse

i found myself in the same situation at that age. i'm in my 40's now

so things maybe different. but the financial/billing office of the

hospital may be able to help with their bills. alot of hospitals that

receive government grants are required to write off a certain amount

of money in patient care. your daughters situation is exactly what

they look for. it involved some paperwork but reduced my bill from

$7,000 approx. to $250.
