Guest guest
Hi all... I had a mastoidectomy when i was 11 to remove the cholesteatoma in my left ear. Over the past few years my ear has had constant infection, blood etc.. so last week i had a reversal of the original op whereby cartilage was placed in to the mastoid cavity, i was also given a skin graft and had the opening of my ear widened. However since the op my ear has become infected & has swollen up as well as the lower left side of my face. The doctor i saw in A & E (I'm staying with my parents away from my GP) put me on flucloxacillin. The swelling has come down somewhat however my ear has been running ALOT through the iodine gauze that was put in after the op with a watery yellow discharge. I was told to expect discharge to an extent but it literally pours with it 24/7 - does anyone know if this is normal as i still have 2 weeks til i see my doc!! I also didnt mention the discharge to the A & E doc as it wasnt very bad at that point. I have been on the antibiotics for 4 days.. Can anyone give me any advice??? Thanks & sorry for the essay xx Terri
