Guest guest
Hi Caro I sufferered with tinnitus caused by cholesteatoma before I had a CWU mastoidectomy in 2003. The surgery left we with constant but fairly low- level tinnitus but at least enabled me to get on with my life. Hearing for me stayed much the same at 60%. I was told that tinnitus was one of the risks of surgery, along with deafness, facial paralysis, vertigo, pain. I know it sounds grim, but whatever happens with surgery, the best outcome is to be free of disease. My c-toma has now recurred and my tinnitus now is far worse than it was after first surgery. I'm also waiting for surgery.
