Guest guest
Hey all, After my surgery, my surgeon put a liquid packing in my ear to hold the bones. It has been slowly draining out and coming out in little chunks. I'm going to see my surgeon on the 21st. Do you think he will suck the rest out? Has anyone else had this packing? Thanks for your responses!Ana L. Dabrowski __________________________________________________

Suctioning it out would probably pull on those bones anyway, which seems like it would be a bad idea. Sounds like you just have to kind of wait for it to come out on it's own. Guest guest
This rings a bell with me - but I recall having gauze in my ear too - I remember, on having it pulled gently from the ear, telling the doctor: "Ouch" and he asked if it really hurt. I admitted it hadn't, but the 'ouch' had been more a kneejerk reaction as I had expected it to hurt, so to speak. Maybe I had gauze in the ear itself and gel in the cavity, I don't know, but I know I had eardrops, the gauze and a few visits for suction treatment. Seems treatment and surgery isn't so different the world over. ;-) All the best to your son :-) Kazzy Re: liquid packing > My 10 year old son had (after CWD, 3-bone prosthetic implant and ear drum grapht) what the Doc called a 'gel sponge' soaked with antibiotic and a steroid that did exactly what you described ... drainage of dark yellow and 3 different visit with extra ear drops in between to finally get it all suctioned out. > > __________________________________________________>
Guest guest
I had the same packing. It was a gel type packing that slowly dissolves. I had some chunks come out (at not great times, like in the middle of meetings I would feel some of it break loose). The doctor ended up suctioning what was left out at my 4 week post op visit. --- Ana Dabrowski <anadbxe@...> wrote: > Hey all, > > After my surgery, my surgeon put a liquid packing > in my ear to hold the bones.
