Hi,

Sorry you did not get a response before.

I would not wait 1-2 years to have my ears re-checked. Especially if you are having pain in that ear now. I would get myself to a different otologist ASAP. Even, if he does not find anything I would rather have the peace of mind rather than the constant worry. That is my 2 cents worth.

Is two years too long for second-look?

Hi all!I posted this message before and had no response...Boo hoo. After my CWU in March '05 my ototlogist said he'd do a second-lookoperation 1-2 years down the line. I'm not due to see him againuntil September. If he puts me on the waiting list then it'll beexactly two years later. I hear with CWU reoccurance it more likely. For the past few months I've had a bit of a dull pain in my ear; myotologist knows this, but said he'll leave it for now. I'm quiteconcerned the c-toma's back, not only because of the pain, but alsobecause I had a retracted ear-drum in March this year. He thinksthis was caused by glue-ear. However, when they operated to give mea grommet the glue-ear had gone, but the retraction remained. Isthis a sign it's back? I asked this and he said he put a cut in myear-drum before he inserted the tube and there was no sign of it.However, I saw a private professor of otology and he said it

couldbe there, but not visible within the small cut. Two of my bones havealready been gobbled up by this horrid thing, so I'm worried sick.Does two years down the line sound too long considering the symptomsI have? Any views grately appreciated.Helen
