Guest guest
Greetings! It is also important to actually do something with the information we get! We need to make HBOT for neurological impairment a household word- like Clarinex, Zithromax, Prepulcid........ Guest guest
Rob and all, My apologies...of course I'm interested in anyone's experience with lower lid surgeries. was the only comment I'd seen which mentioned such a condition. I've heard of the graft from the palate...what less invasive procedure did your son have? ie the name so I can do my homework...Thanks much...Cheryl Re: Digest Number 287 Vahl, Cheryl wrote: > THis question is for . DId it help > symptoms or appearance? can you tell me more about it? who? where? My son has/had the same problem. A combination of (1) thinness of the lower lid (not uncommon with BPEI), allowing the lid to turn inwards - called entropion - or outwards (like mine does) - called ectropion, and (2) trichiasis and/or distichiasis - eyelashes pointing inwards (among other directions, due to the lid's' thinness). The eyelashes therefore rub against the cornea and irritate (or, worst case, ulcerate), causing sensitivity and pain in windy or dusty conditions. There are a number of procedures to fix the problem, among the worst of which is skin grafts, often taken from the palate (roof of the mouth), used to thicken & stiffen the lid. We avoided that for our son, opting for less brutal and more effective (i.e. modern) techniques. He's had no problems since then. I strongly suggest you do some homework in this area, and acquaint yourself with the available techniques (the OTHER ones, that is), and as usual, grill your candidate surgeons without mercy. > thanks You're welcome. I'll help you whether you want it or not. Rob " All my friends call me . No, really. The surgeon who operated on my son had written some journal articles (along with the famous Mr Collin) based on his experience on children at Moorfields in London. The most relevant article describes the procedure as: " a modified Hotz procedure, Quickert sutures, and -type retractor plication. " This article, if you want to track it down, was in: " Congenital lower eyelid deformity with trichiasis (epiblepharon and entropion) " , Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology, 1994; 22, pp33-37, by Brett A O'Donnell and J O Collin. It also says " Reprints: Dr JRO Collin " (Oculoplastics Service, Moorfields Eye Hospital, City Road, London, EC1V 2PD, England) Here's a gratuitous Inyerneck link, for good measure: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=retrieve & db=pubmed & list_uids=8\ 037911 & dopt=Abstract A google search for 'entropion epiblepharon trichiasis' will find all sorts of goodies icluding other articles that link to the above, as well as to Hotz's original articles, and stuff like this: http://wwww.eyeplastics.com/topics/lidmalpositions/entropion.htm ....which lists the available corrective methods (all the above, plus others). Also, don't forget to have a play with the PubMed browser: http://www.pmbrowser.info/pubmed.html Hours of fun for all the family. Homework on my desk by 0900 hours, please. Double-spaced. Guest guest
Dear Kam, ARe you SURE Bridwell dropped you from Dilaudid all the way down to Darvocet??? Is it possible that he dropped you to Demerol maybe? Darvocet is basically souped up Tylenol, & not very souped up at that. It's MUCH weaker than Oxycontin. Pardon me for asking, but as I'm considering Lenke, Bridwell may possibly be on call for him at some point. I was kind of freaked out by the drastic change in meds. Sorry. Blessings, Carla Kay Ps. 96:1,3, & 4a Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. Guest guest
Hello everyone First, I'd like to thank you for welcoming me into the group. , Gena, Deb, Heidi.... thank you! I got back from our vacation yesterday and we had a good time. My Brother in Law and Sister in Law cooked enough for an army and it was soooo good, gained a couple pounds but worth it. However, I couldn't sleep, I thought I packed my Ambien CR (I packed my Thyroid meds in my nighttime slot and in the morning slot. grrrr I wasn't thinking obviously) and they were long restless anxious nights. I know you know how those nights are. I slept wonderful last night. I got some really helpful ideas from this group. The humidity has gone down and my pain is starting to subside a little. Saturday, we looked at houses, and we found 2 that we like. Hopefully within 2 months we will be out there in Hartford (MI) We wanted to be out there before school started, so we are praying all will fall into place and that we get the house we are looking at. What I come to realize that God will answer on His timing and sometimes he says "no", so hopefully he will say "yes" to this situation. I do have to tell you a neat little story when we were out looking for the houses. We went into this one old n house and I immediately felt my arm hairs lift and got a weird feeling almost nauseous. I am never a rude person, but I looked quickly, no, almost ran through the house and out a** over tea kettle and after my husband apologized for my behavior (lol) the real estate agent ended up telling us that this wasn't the first time this happened, and that 2 people died in that house. She said some people are more sensitive than others. just said that it was too dark (lots of black and red and velvet) and it felt like the walls were closing in. Anyway, it was an interesting weekend. had the interview at the hospital and it went well. I am saying my novena and I know this will work out just fine. Anyway, I want to thank you for all the awesome advice and reading all your comments. I will write soon. Tracie In a message dated 7/22/2008 10:17:24 A.M. Gave me nightmares. My doc gave me 5 mg. Elavil. That only worked for about 6 months. Right now nothing works. I hope you will find something that works for you. Guest guest
About that house you checked out - something strange is going on there in the spiritual realm. I rented a house in the Denver area for 7 months that had " problems " and despite attempts by my husband at exorcism, the " thing " did not leave. Also, we found clues inside and outside the house pointing to witchcraft and possible human sacrifice. Before we moved in, neighbors reported hearing voices coming from the house when no one was supposed to be home. I was glad when we moved and told the realtor about our experiences, because another family was going to be renting and they had small children. Didn't want them to have problems. One of the main things in that home was that it felt like someone was watching us. A creepy feeling. No fibromite needs more stress like that! It could also be dangerous. I was also in a beautiful old renovated n home that a relative rented to get married in. The upstairs bedrooms gave me the creeps for some reason- decorated darkly. Found out that someone had committed suicide up there years ago. I'd avoid places like that.
