Guest guest
Christa - I have an obsession with headphones so I am always looking. I found a set at Walgreens that has earbuds that have interchangable covers on them that fit different sized ears. I'm in Des Moines but I would guess and Walgreens would have them. I believe these are like the ones I saw: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100406 & navAction=jump & navCount=0 & skuid=sku3375756 & id=prod3376916 here's a pair at best buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8703414 & st=adjustable+headphones & lp=3 & type=product & cp=2 & id=1199496037667 here's another pair at best buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8703272 & st=adjustable+headphones & lp=15 & type=product & cp=2 & id=1199495404169 Also, have you tried the ones that hook over the ear? My daughter has c-toma and can still wear the ones on the outside of her ears....however she's 4 and was just recently diagnosed so has only had her 1st c-toma surgery. I'm sure with scar tissue it can be painful....just didn't know if the buds that hook over the ears would help. I wear them and love them. I have a perf. ear drum and it doesn't bother that ear at all when I wear them. I know that's nothing like c-toma but other ones have hurt my ears. Good luck!! problems with earbud headphones? Hi, Does anyone else have problems with headphones? The older style headphones that lay on the outside of your ears hurt my ears (too many ear surgeries I guess), so to stay out of pain I try the earbuds. They don't hurt, usually, but I CANNOT find a pair where both of the earbuds actually stay in my ears!! One of them always falls out. I don't know if they're too big, or if the structure of my outer ears are different after all the surgeries.Whatever the reason,I've tried several different kinds and just keep wasting my money on them. What a rip off!Anyone have any suggestions/ solutions? Thanks, Christa
Guest guest
Hi there, S here, Because my ear in the right have such a huge opening even if I could hear in that ear I wouldn't be able to use those head-phones that come with MP3 player. I have to use full sized head phones that sit directly on to the microphone of my left ear. This is the ear that has the CI. You may also consider head phones that can boost the sound on your ear that have had all the surgery. Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried that kind, since I didn't know how they'd work I was afraid to spend the money. All I can do is try them out and see if they work for me! Even my glasses hurt behind my ear after this last surgery, so I have to buy more contacts now, too. Thanks, Christa
Guest guest
My glasses and sunglasses KILL me. They sit right on the scar. NO FUN. Guest guest
I'm right there with you. It really stinks. I've worn glasses since 7th grade and don't see that changing anytime soon. Of course now because of the pain from the glasses I am more seriously considering LASIK. I even have problems with winter hats hurting my ears. Anything that puts pressure on my ears causes pain. -Christa > > My glasses and sunglasses KILL me. They sit right on the scar. NO FUN. Guest guest
That's what I was going to say. My opening to my ear is too big now, so I can't wear the ones that sit in the ear in my right ear now. I also can't wear the ones that go behind the ear, because I've had so many surgeries my ear lays close to my head. So I have to use those good old fashioned ones. (Which, by the way, are becoming harder and harder to find now that the other two kinds are out.) > > Hi there, > > S here, > > Because my ear in the right have such a huge opening even if I could > hear in that ear I wouldn't be able to use those head-phones that come > with MP3 player. Guest guest
We are trying to figure out what type to buy for ds too. They put headphones on his needs list for school but I'm stumped what kind to buy. They are for computer class in 5th grade. He has had his first Ctoma surgery & lost his hearing bones in his right ear. I think the large headphones might be better because of hearing loss but with the scar, they might be painful on his right side. The hook over the ear type seem to be the best alternative & then we will take them back if he can't use them. A couple of wks should tell weather they are ok or not. > > Thanks for the suggestion. Guest guest
Hi there, S here, I'm wondering you may need to buy your son headphones that can amplify the computer for him? A audiogram maybe a good idea and perhaps a chat to the Teacher of the Deaf may have the latest news what is available. If he wears a hearing aid perhaps you can use the shoe that clips behind the aid. Regards > > > > Thanks for the suggestion. Guest guest
The over the ear type headphones work best for our seven year olds son who has an enlarged ear canal from C'Toma surgery twice!!
