Guest guest
Hailey had her second appointment since surgery today. Today was the one month anniversary of her surgery. The doctor looked in her ears and said that she is healing GREAT!!!! He said the ear drum replacement took!!!!!!!!!!! He said we still need to be careful with watching the ear and need to be careful of the hole in the other ear drum but that she can play in the water more but still can't go under the water. For those of you I forgot to tell she had to have surgery on her right ear at the same time they took out the C-toma from her left ear. Her tube had fallen behind the ear drum and needed removed. The doctor said the hole in the ear drum is actually closed up more than 2 weeks ago. Both girls are being treated for strep throat. I made sure to let him know and he checked out her throat to make sure everything was going good. He said he doesn't want anything getting in the way of her healing and getting through this. When he asked to see her throat she kept putting her hands in front of her face. I grabbed one so then she put the next up. I was holding both hands and he was trying to look at her throat. I'm telling you she's talented, she clenched her teeth and he COULDN'T get her mouth open! He kept saying, " man she's good " . He finally had to do his tactic where he squeezes the cheeks next to the teeth, then the kids give up and open up. She did, with a little crying too. She didn't want him to look…even though he had to. All and all things are on track for recovery and she is doing wonderful with the healing. At this point we are looking at surgery in 3-5 more months. It all depends on how the rest of the healing goes and need to make sure her body can handle it. At this point in time the hope to be able to remove the rest of the C- toma and check to see the status of the stapes bone. At this point this is great news. She's had such a hard time with this ear and this is the first real sign of good news in over 2 years. At this point we'll take what we can get. I'm hoping when they get back in there for the next surgery that they will be able to remove the rest of it. Also wanted to thank this group. I'm so glad I found this group, listening to what everyone is going through and knowing that we aren't the only ones out there makes it easier. I also hope that each and everyone of you are doing well or that your loved ones are doing well that are dealing with C-toma. We will continue to keep every one of you in our thoughts and prayers. :-)
