Guest guest
My daughter JinMei just had her 2nd C-toma surgery, 1st for the rt ear. Both ears were nearly identical with the ear drums gone & part of the bones. With both surgeries they made her ear canal wider & grafted in an ear drum. When they went in this time, they looked at the left ear & found the ear drum was already sucked back in. He tried a different procedure with the rt & if it works, he will try that on the left as well. We adopted JinMei in August & since then she has had these 2 surgeries, one to enlarge her nostril, teeth extraction, and an attempted repair of her cleft palate. That failed 2 weeks later when a tooth grew through the roof of her mouth thru the repair. so we need that redone. She will have another nostril surgery next month & weekly visits to the Dr. to expand the nostril. We temporarily relocated to Seattle last week to work on all these medical issues. We live in Alaska so my husband is still there. I have the 3 girls with me ages 4, 5, & 6. I wonder how long this will all take! I'm figuring we will be here about 7 months but then we will have to come back frequently. Each ear surgery seems to require a month long visit here. The travel costs have been killing us. We go to Seattle Children's Hospital. Does anyone else here use their services? I love the care she receives there but wonder how experienced they are with this. It would be hard for me to go elsewhere since they coordinate all her care plus they have agreed to write off all their costs that insurance doesn't cover. They realize we are drained due to the travel costs. Nobody said this would be easy! I just never realized how difficutl it would be!!!@ Donna DeBoer http://www.BabyJellyBeans.com (Search 1st name " Liberty " , last name " "
