Akron Children's Hospital - NeuroDevelopmental CenterWe are pleased to announce the availability of a 12-month PostdoctoralFellowship in Pediatric Psychology: NeuroDevelopmental Disabilities Focusbeginning September 2006. The primary purpose of this fellowship is tooffer advanced clinical training in assessment and treatment of autisticspectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and behavioraldisorders. The fellow will serve on several multi-disciplinary diagnosticevaluation teams and provide individual and group behavioral andcognitive-behavioral interventions to children and families withneurological deficits and/or developmental disabilities. Additionaltraining opportunities are available for exposure and/or experience withpain or symptom management, behavioral compliance, rehabilitationpsychology, sleep disorders, and neuropsychology. Fellows will be involvedin the teaching of medical residents and psychiatry fellows and receiveformal instruction on topics related to neurodevelopmental disorders.Research opportunities are available to meet the fellow’s interests andcareer goals.The fellow will function within the NeuroDevelopmental Center, whichcombines the specialties of psychology, neuropsychology, developmentalpediatrics and neurology. The NeuroDevelopmental Center providescomprehensive care for patients with autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy,learning disabilities, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and traumatic braininjury, among other conditions. Akron Children's Hospital is afull-service pediatric medical center for children from birth throughadolescence, serving a population of 2.5 million in northeastern Ohio (www.akronchildrens.org). Competitive stipend and benefits package areprovided. Applicants from an APA-approved doctoral program and internshipin psychology who will have completed all degree requirements by September1, 2006 are encouraged to apply.
