Guest guest
I've noticed often times Sci-Fi books and movies arrive before reality does so often it isn't funny. What appeared far fetched 50years ago is everyday occurrence today. Flying machines, horseless carriages, microwave ovens, all were scoffed at yet lived in Sci-Fi stories. There have been several stories which depict alien races in which some genetic or environmental illness in epidemic numbers. Of course in the stories they generally work it out in the nick of time. I have read some items concerning fluoride in water and it's connection to arthritis and other disorders. We've a problem with cancer, which I believe is from environmental sources, toxic waste, pesticides and fertilizers. I've also read about the harmful chemicals in our city water taps. How many known but secret influences are there and just what are the effects of them all? We all had lead pipes delivering our city water. Many still do. Children are monitored for blood lead levels until they reach their teens. What are " acceptable levels " of toxins we unknowingly are exposed to? Acceptable lead levels have recently been lowered. What happened to everyone who tested at the higher levels? Farther back, the nation prescribed iodine in our diets. I figured my family consumed 5-15 times the recommended daily requirement of iodine, so we quit buying iodized salt. What is the suggested dose of fluoride? Who here has ever been given a blank prescription, one without some limit on how much medicine to take? Why was this done with fluoride and iodine? Isn't this irresponsible to dispense drugs in this manner? We are now a nation of people who suffer all sorts of disorders, mental and physical. Many of these were avoidable. I suppose it's a small price to pay with our suffering and our lives and those of our children all in the name of corporate profits and absence of corporate responsibility. It's a sad day when we learn more about what's going on in the world from Sci-Fi then we do the nightly news.
