Guest guest
Waymon, There are about 20,000 species of algae – some are toxic and some are nutritious. I don’t know what lake you are referring to, but I have heard the same report pretty much every year in the summer, that some lakes gets closed because of an algae bloom. It may not be a toxic algae that is in your lake, but I’m sure they close it as a precaution. Do you know if the algae in your lake has ever been identified? Carol -----Original Message----- From: Waymon Cowley [mailto:goldenirides@...] A lake near me is closed for swimming because of the algae. Is it true that it causes illness or is it just present and people get sick so they blame the algae? Waymon
