Guest guest
Wednesday afternoon we had Hailey's 3 1/2 month post surgery check up.  The doctor said her ear is looking great.  They tested the strength of her ear drum and said it is solid, it isn’t moving anywhere.  Our next step is to set up our surgery. The scheduler was out on Wednesday and I’ve left a message for her, so the next step is to wait for the date.  Dr. Young did say that surgery will probably be in a month to month and a half.  They will be going in to remove the rest of the cholestatoma and will be rebuilding her hearing bones with titanium prosthetics…..as long as her ear is ready.  He did say if the cholestatoma is aggressive again then we may not be able to do the prosthetics just yet.  We will keep everyone posted on when surgery is.   I've been working close with her pre school teachers. They have many conserns about her hearing, I've asked them if she doesn't respond on the left to move to the right side. They are also getting the audiologist in to evaluate her room. In addition they have taken steps to ensure she is at the front of the class at all times.  I did ask that the school evaluate her speech, I'd like to make sure she's on track. They are working with her and said she's doing fine. There are a few conserns, however we've signed all the paper work to have the speech therapist at the school to begin working with her. She is already working with her 1 day a week for a small amount of time, however we've now signed all f the paper work to make sure we have legal rights.  All and all things are looking like we are ready for the next phase. She's one tuff cookie. The teachers can't believe how strong she is physically and emotionally with everything she has going on. They said she doesn't let the hearing issues bother her and she gets right in there with the other children. :-)  Just wanted to give an update and let everyone know how Hailey is doing. She turns 5 in three weeks, it's been a blessing that we found this when we did and that we have such a wonderful doctor that is helping us. I thank the heavens above for our doctor, he has been our blessing.  I know I haven't been on here much and haven't responded to many of you that are new to the group or others that have questions. I apoligize, we are thinking of all of you . Right now my plate is full with work, finishing up my BA (I graduate in 6 weeks), both girls and with Hailey's condition. I hope to get on here more often once school is done. Please know our family is still thinking of everyone of you that has the same diagnosis.  take care  thank you for all the thoughts and prayers  , , Jordan and Hailey __________________________________________________
