REQUEST FOR INFORMATIONTHE FRONTIER INITIATIVE IS SEEKING TO DEVELOP A COLLECTION OF "BESTPRACTICES" IN PROVIDING SERVICES AND SUPPORTS TO ADULTS WITH AUTISM. THIS INCLUDES A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON ENVIRONMENTAL AND ANTECEDENTINITIATIVES AS OPPOSED TO "RESPONSE-CONTINGENT PROGRAMS". EXAMPLESOF THIS WOULD INCLUDE SUCCESSFUL STRATEGIES FOR MINIMIZING ENVIRONMENTALDISTRACTIONS; EFFECTIVE VISUAL AIDS AND PROMPTING STRATEGIES; CREATIVEAPPROACHES TO COMMUNICATION; CUES FOR REMAINING ATTENTIVE TO HEALTHISSUES * ANYTHING INDIVIDUALS HAVE LEARNED THAT CAN BE SUPPORTIVE ANDCAN HELP MINIMIZE UN-NECESSARY / UNWANTED OUTCOMES.WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THE BEST "RESOURCES" FOR GATHERING SUCHINFORMATION ARE NOT NECESSARILY THE HIGHLY PAID PROFESSIONALS * BUTRATHER PARENTS AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD TO "EXPERIMENTAND LEARN" ON THEIR OWN AND HAVE HAD SUCCESS IN DOING SO.THUS * WE ARE SEEKING TO CONTACT AS MANY PARENTS, FAMILIES, DIRECTCARE STAFF, ETC. AS WE CAN TO SOLICIT INPUT ON "WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNEDAND DEVISED". WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR TAKING TIME TO SHARE YOUR OWNIDEAS AND STORIES ON THE BACK OF THIS NOTICE (AND ADDITIONAL SHEETS IFNECESSARY) AND RETURNING THEM TO US.
