Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just wanted to give a brief overview of yesterday's discussion in case someone had wanted to go but wasn't able to. There were 90 some people who preregistered, so Galvin had to move the meeting to the Embassy Suites across the street. The room was pretty crowded! Dr. Demio (a DAN! dr. and a parent) and Alan Israel (a pharmacist) talked on the topic of The Brain & Body Connection, mostly focusing chelation. Alan is a compounding pharmacist, so he is able to dispense vitamins/treatments in GFCF soyfree formulations. Of particular interest is that some drs. and himself have come up with a vitamin formulation that is close to SuperNuThera, but is a prescription, so if your doctor will prescribe it, you can get reimbursed by your insurance company. He has a sheet that details what's in it, so you can look it over with your physician. His # is 800-918-8831 if you have questions. In the beginning of his talk, Dr. Demio confessed that he had once taught chemistry on the college level, which happens to be my major, and I had to smile as he talked because he reminded me so much of my professors of so many years ago. It's not that he talked on a college level - I thought he did a good job of explaining everything on a lay person level - but just his mannerisms were chem professor like. For example, he used his hands to show a chemical's shape and explain how it was able bind to mercury. I'm sure his college students like having him as a professor. Dr. Demio briefly talked about heavy metals and why they are bad in the body, and where they are stored in the body. He went into detail about the different chelators, how they work, and what types of side effects a patient might see. What I found of particular interest that there is a "natural" chelator that is considered potent enough to chelate mercury out of the body - allithiamine. I had never heard about it before and I plan to look into more detail about it. One thing that Dr. Demio brought up was that he has tried the different chelators on himself as well, including putting the topical creams in his eye to see if they stung (they do) because he would never give to his child something he hasn't tried himself. At the very end, there was a long period of time for questions and answers. This was what I thought was the best part of the conference. Dr. Demio went into great detail as he answered those questions. Also, he didn't leave the conference room after the end of the talk until he had answered every parent's questions. You don't see that that often. Overall, I like the meeting and am glad I went. I did learn a lot and ran into some people I knew as well. Marotta.
