Guest guest
Well, the dr. removing the cholesteatoma in his office went as good as I thought it would. So, now I am being scheduled for surgery. I have military insurance that not all hospitals take, so we are not sure on the surgery date yet because of that. Also, he told me that the cholesteatoma has eroded some of the bone covering my facial nerve, so I'm really thrilled about that either. Anyway, that's my small update. I am a HUGE object lesson in why a person HAS TO GO every six months to get their ear cleaned when they have an open mastoid cavity - otherwise, you open yourself up for regrowth, which I was stupid enough to let happen to me. Lesson learned over here - I just hope that I can get it fixed without huge repercussions from the surgery!! The doctor made it seem like he would be able to just go in through the canal --- has anybody had any experience with regrowth on an open mastoid cavity where they got in there and then they ended up having to go in from behind and pull the ear back to get everything? Right now, I am looking at a two day recovery which sounds wonderful compared to one week + and oozy stitches from before.
