Let Chloe know we are praying for her. Masie went for her checkup yesterday and

hearing test and we schedule her next surgery for between February and April- my

pick as the doctor said. So I need to think on it.

We will be thinking of you all today,

I wanted to let you know I was thinking about Chloe this morning not knowing it was her big day. I wish you all the best and I am so glad she has a positive attitude, it makes all the difference.

Let us know how it goes. I'll say a prayer right now.

Chloe's surgery

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that Chloe is having her 11th surgery in a couple of hours. This is the "second look" LOL from the last typanomastoidectomy she had in July. He is definitely going to open up the mastoid and make sure there is no ctoma anywhere, since it was poor visibility this summer due to the mastoiditis and bone infection. If all is well, she will get a new titanium prosthesis, as the last one was removed in June during her emergency mastoidectomy. If not, you all know the drill.I think it's amazing that she has had so many surgeries and is still happy to go try it again. She is such a doll! Have a great day everyone!

Hi guys.

I have a quick update, and I can't tell you how much it means to share this with people who know what it's all about.

Chloe was in surgery for four and a half hours plus a couple more in the pacu. The mastoid was completely full of ctoma again, as well as a good amount in the middle ear. Our surgeon, who is excellent, was very concerned that some small amount may be hiding in the corner between the mastoid and middle ear. He may do a canal wall down in 6 months. Hers is just very aggressive, so no newbies freaking out ok????

Anyway, thanks for everything!!!!

You are blessed with the gift of patients and I want to thank you for being so calm about your situation and for your concern about everyone else affected with this condition.

God gave Chloe the right Mom who will make sure she pulls through this.

Glad to hear Chloe is doing well. I feel so sorry for such a young child to have so many surgeries. Does the doctor ever feel like the growth of the cholesteatomas will ever calm down for her? Chloe is on the top of my prayer list. Take Care.

Chloe is doing really well, altough she is more sore than usual. I took off the large dressing today, and she wanted to go to see Dr. Jen (the chiropractor). She always feels way better after that first adustment! She also went to the library to get movies. There are some blessings in this. At least I know she'll be fine to go back to school after the holiday and not worry about a prosthesis. I am starting to feel the gravity of this continual recurrance and hoping it will go better in June! Her doctor is involved in a collaboration of ear specialists and mentioned that he may involve some other people at this point to get their ideas.

So, a question: what is the most number of ctoma removal surgeries you've heard of people having. The most I had personally heard of before now was 11, but now that we are headed for a 12th, I need a new benchmark.

Blessings!

So sorry to hear about all the surgeries! And here I was thinking

my son had had the most of any kid around. He had his 6th in early

November and actually, FINALLY, the c-toma had not recurred so

unless something else goes wrong, I guess the 6th time's a charm.

You have us beat by a lot (I'm sorry)!!

Here's hoping Chloe heals well and that her recurrences will stop.

Maybe at some point the c-toma will go into a less aggressive mode.

Happened for my son, it could happen for her, too.

All the best to you ... Alice
