Guest guest
May want to ask your surgeon if you can ice it to numb the pain? I can remember one ear infection that was so painful that ice was the ONLY way for me to manage the pain. > > i had my 3rd surgery this past tuesday for cholesteatoma. the pain i > am in now is awful. my first 2 surgeries were not this bad. this > surgery was a radical one and more involved. has anyone experienced > this and what did you do? i am on vicodin and still in pain. >
Guest guest
Pam, I had a similar experience when I had my cholesteatoma removed back in March, it felt like I was taking vicodin like they were tic-tacs, and I wasn't getting any relief. It turns out that I had gotten an ear infection from the surgery. I would ask your doctor to check that. Good luck, and I hope you recover soon. -Vladimir > > i had my 3rd surgery this past tuesday for cholesteatoma. the pain i > am in now is awful. my first 2 surgeries were not this bad. this > surgery was a radical one and more involved. has anyone experienced > this and what did you do? i am on vicodin and still in pain. >
Guest guest
>Hi Pamela, What type of pain are you having? Is it from the incision or more like an ear ache? If your ear is hurting inside it could possibly be infected. You may want to check with your doctor. My last surgery was a modified radical mastoidectomy in Aug, and it wasn't anymore painful than my first, less radical surgery. Usually this type of surgery isn't extremely painful. Better to be on the safe side and check with your Dr. Jackie > i had my 3rd surgery this past tuesday for cholesteatoma. the pain i > am in now is awful. my first 2 surgeries were not this bad. this > surgery was a radical one and more involved. has anyone experienced > this and what did you do? i am on vicodin and still in pain. >

I had major abdominal surgery in Feb with no problem but the ear surgery really kicked my butt. Kathy
Guest guest
Hi, I had my surgery about 5 months ago and also had terrible pain. My jaw was injured during the intubation and the resulting TMJ was referring the pain to my ear. I was only able to open my mouth about a half of an inch for about 10 days until the jaw popped back into place. I still wear a dental appliance at night which helps a lot. Thought you'd want to consider this as perhaps the source of your pain. Hope it's much better soon! > > i had my 3rd surgery this past tuesday for cholesteatoma. the pain i > am in now is awful. my first 2 surgeries were not this bad. this > surgery was a radical one and more involved. has anyone experienced > this and what did you do? i am on vicodin and still in pain. >
