Guest guest
Hello! I had my C-Toma removal surgery at UMass Memorial... How was Mass Eye & Ear? I am almost one month post op. Tee taste loss was only on the right side of my tounge for about 3 weeks.. I still have a small loss of taste on the right side in the back. I tend to not shew on the side of the surgery ear. It's a weird habit I am trying to break. I started blowing my nose this week and it feels okay. Just funny. The tickling will go away once the packing is removed. FYI, when they take the packing out.. it hurts a lot. So we beware1 Lol. Once your packing is removed, he will put you on antibiotic ear drops. They feel nice because the ones I have also have a numbing sensation that helps with pain. The only problems I experienced was a week and half ago I had excruciating shooting pains that came out of no where in the ear. Lasted about 30 seconds each and came about 4 times over the course of an hour. They went away and then returned on Tuesday this week. Someone had suggested that I may have tremingal nueralgia.. I did some research and this could be a possibility. Sorry to ramble but I figured I would let you know what I have gone through since after my surgery. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions! Guest guest
Hello, The Mass Eye and Ear was excellant. I have been going nuts trying to find out what happens on the first post-op visit. I'm glad you told me. I can't taste a thing, except chocolate (funny huh) Does your ear still fell numb? I did get a little stabbing pain today really the first one. How many weeks does it take before things are a little normal? Bending feels so wierd. So when the take packing out, what do they do scrap it out......YIKES. Will it bleed? Maybe I should take a pill before I go? Does the whole thing come out. I did take a picture of it since I can't see it. Looks like a huge scap! When do they take the stiches out?
Guest guest
>I would recomend taking your painkillers prior to having the packing removed. The first time I had it done, it wasn't too painful, but the second time I really regretted not taking any painkillers before. Jackie > Hello, > The Mass Eye and Ear was excellant. Guest guest
When my packing was removed I couldn't even tell it had been done - it still felt like I had a cotton ball in my ear. I don't know if it because the ear does have numbness which the doctor said will take about 6 months to go away. Your ear will not bleed when the packing comes out. Also, I had pains in my ear every now and then - my surgery took place 9/25/08 and today I have no pain and only a little drainage every now and then. As far as stitches I had dissolveable stitches and tape over the incision - I pulled off the tape after 2-3 weeks. Guest guest
Yes my ear is still numb in certain places. I still have yet to sleep on it as it is a little painful still. It feels "heavy" It is a strange way to describe it but that's what it feels like. I am finally starting to feel somewhat normal again, minus the hearing loss and tinnitius that is still present. (ringing in my ear) When they took the packing out, he just used some tweezers and slowly pulled it out in sections. It was loud and it hurt like heck and yes.. take a pill right when you get there. What you are seeing that looks like a scab is the outer packing. You can pull it a little and cut off the bloody parts so you dont really see it but you need a cotton ball there to catch all the drainage and blood over the next few weeks. The blood will eventually stop and it will just be funny colored discharge. The stiches came out 10 days after surgery. The doctor says that it takes well over a month for the ear to heal. I am almost one month post op and I feel better but still sore.
