Guest guest
Actually what I have is ITP. It's my immune system telling my spleen that my platelets are bad. So my spleen removes too many. The pred will surpress my immune system (the doctor likes to say reprogram it) so that it's not working as hard and getting rid of my platelets. I'm working on eating better, taking vitamins, sleeping more, quitting caffeine, quitting smoking, exercising more and journaling. But I'm horrible so at this point eating better means not eating fast food. I think K helps with the stuff that the blood uses with the platelets to clot. I'm not exactly sure how it works but I don't think K helps with the low platelets. I just joined this list not too long ago. Just reading it inspires me to work towards being healthier. >Doesn't Vit K help blood clotting time? >Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that is most well-known for the >important role it plays in blood clotting. >Anne

Guest guest
You may want to research milk thistle ..(preferably the herb). you want it straight with nothing else added if you get the capsules.. I'm sure Don will have alot more to say.. Suzi <K9Krazy@...> wrote: Nope. Nothing. I've used milk thistle for my dogs. I think they getbetter care then I do. LOL I am really sorry to hear that you suffer from immune thrombocytopenic purpura. For anyone wishing more info on this disorder here is the url: http://www.itppeople.com/ No, Vit K will not help raise your platelet level but will help with clotting, though if you are seriously low on platelets that might not be much consolation. Quitting cigarettes is a very smart thing to do in your case especially. Every molecule of carbon monoxide that binds with one platelet effectively removes that platelet from your blood supply. Carbon monoxide bonds for the life of the platelet unlike carbon dioxide which releases into the lungs. Basically your body is all out of whack. You will need to discontinue the coffee, smoking, caffeinated beverages, sodas, junk food, etc. You are going to have to repair your immune system or reprogram it. The best way I can think of at the moment is to discontinue the above and begin a serious cycle of raw fresh organic fruits and vegetables with cycles of juice cleansing and fasting. Meditation and visualization can be a real asset for you to use. Also yoga or some form of stretching exercises along with walking or jogging will help you much. Going onto a predominantely raw diet can help rebuild not only your immune system, but can help in raising your platelet count. Can't manufacture new platelets if you aren't giving your body what it needs to make them. Junk food does not give you what you need. You can beat this if it is your choice. Be warned that you have a lot of work ahead of you and not everyday will be a glowing great day. You will have lots of doubts and second thoughts. But perseverance and determination will see you through this. I believe you can do this and we are all willing to help you in any way we can. But you have to make the choice and you have to do the work. It is up to you . Taking prednisone does not help you in any way that I can see. Sure, it surpresses your immune system but does nothing to cure the problem. Give your body what it needs and stay with it. You will see improvements soon enough and given enough time you will overcome and conquer this. You can do it . Peace be with you and we are here for you. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. I can only say that it will take as long as it takes. Every body is different. It took you 'x' number of years to get your body into the condition it is now in. It will take a certain amount of time before it can heal totally. It all depends on how hard you are willing to work at healing yourself. I will say that if you stick to doing the juice cleanse every month and change your diet to a mostly raw vegan one that you will see results within 6 months easily. It could take several years before you are totally healed but don't ever let that discourage you. Because as long as you are heading in the right direction you are not heading in the other, if you understand my meaning here. You are now starting to go forward, don't go backwards. You need to cut way down on iced tea too and cut out all sodas. Not good for your adrenals, bowels or the rest of your digestive system nor your immune system. Also doesn't help with headaches. I know that you can do this. If I didn't believe you could or that it wasn't very realistic I would never have started this group. But I believe in all you people. I believe that you are all tired of being sick and tired. I not only believe, but I know that everyone of you is a healer. I know that you can heal yourself, if you so choose. You also need to consider this, since the day your mother put that first spoonful of food in your mouth your health has been slowly gaining speed downhill, unless your mother was feeding you living food that was alive with enzymes, vitamins and minerals. All that dead toxic residue from eating dead devitalized food needs to be cleaned out from the cellular level on up and that will take time. You could do complete body cleanses every 6 months for the next 4 years and you might, just might have a squeaky clean body that is in the peak of health. But you will also have to change your diet and lifestyle to match or you are just spinning your wheels. Does this help you understand a little better. There is no magic bullet. We all wish there were. When we finally begin to take control of our own health we are many times overwhelmed at the extent of our ill-health. So much so that is seems a truly daunting task to bring it back into the state we first had when we were born. Healing our bodies is a way of life. You live it. We don't guage it by how long it takes. You and I and everyone else are exposed to toxic garbage everyday of our lives. This we must contend with and do our best to limit and cleanse from our bodies. It is a lifestyle today. The predominating lifestyle today is dis-ease and ill health. This is the norm. Choose to march to the beat of a different drummer and heal yourselves. We can all do it. Peace be with you Deborah and don't worry about the time line. You will be surprised how soon you begin to see real results. They will be slow in coming but that is only because you won't be aware of their building crescendo until they wash over you in a flood of awareness. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Why water down the grape juice? D* =========================== Citrus juices and grape juice are extremely potent in their action. This is why they are diluted 50-50 with distilled water. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
