Guest guest
Okay, I know this may sound weird and it may in fact have nothing to do with my recent surgery, but maybe someone here has some knowledge that may help me. I had surgery to remove a ctoma in my left ear on October 7th. I have healed well other than one small ear infection a few weeks ago. My sense of taste has been either absent or metallic on my left side since the surgery. I am trying to wait patiently for it to return. So I just ate lunch and all of a sudden the back of my tongue started itching like crazy! And only on my left side. I want to take a toothbrush to it and just scratch, but I don't want to tear up my skin and make it worse. I had fish for dinner last night and for lunch today, but I have never had any allergies whatsoever and I have no other symptoms to indicate an allergic reaction. I'm wondering if it might be thrush (a fungal infection on the tongue caused by antibiotics) but I'm not sure if eardrops would cause it. I am clinging to a hope that it could be my sense of taste returning. If anyone knows anything, please help. This is driving me crazy!!! Thanks, Beth
