Hi

Jenna had her surgery on Wednesday. SHe is the 5 year old who had a

cholesteatoma in her left her that had grown into ear canal and behind

a facial nerve. Her face on that side seems a little mishapen. Is

it 'temporary'? It woudl seem her face should be more swollen than

sunken on that side? Obviously I will call the doctor today but was

curious.

Thanks.

Mine wasnt swollen or sunken in...HUMM that is strange. Is it sunken

by her ear??? In front of the ear??? I know that they drilled bone

away behind my ear, but everybody is different and every surgery is

different so this might be normal for her. I would call her ENT, but

let us know what you find out!!!!! Good Luck!!!

One of my c-toma's grew on and around the facial nerve, I was lucky as the Doc was able to remove it with out cutting the nerve. However the nerve was very traumatized! If I remember correctly my tongue had a num feeling for a couple of years and my sense of taste was off for about that long also. In time they both got back to normal so to say what normal is after one of these operations. Another good reason for having a aggressive Doc treating you as I would have hated to to have this prolong like some have. Parent's, you really have no idea what this is like unless you have had one...

Hi Lori, my 21 year old son had c-toma's removed from both ears, his

face looks normal but they reattached the left ear down further than

the right and the uper cartilidge sort of flops down. If you are

concerned please go visit your doc.

I wish the best for you!

Sincerely, Barbara in Oregon

The two times that our son looked odd he had golden staph infection.

The side of his head looked huge and his ear hung down his neck. He

looks normal now. Go to the doctor and get it checked better to be a

worried mum than one that doesn't I think.

Good luck
