Guest guest
It has been a while sine I been here. I am working on my 6th surgery (I may be off by a couple). Back many years ago 10-12 I had a ctoma in the left ear. Went in got the surgery and the follow up for reoccurrence and all was grand. Then several years later I started to loose hearing in that same ear, so off to the specialist who wanted to install (like I'm a car or something) tubes in both ears. Ok in for #3 only to come to and have him tell me the ctoma came back in the left ear so then I had to go to the specialist's specialist (Michigan Ear Institute Dr. D Bojrab). He scheduled the removal and rotor router #4 on the left ear and told me I had a ctoma starting in the right ear. Great! So I have the left ear done and then a follow inspection and cleaning surgery #5. The later I had an implant put in to improve hearing #6. Well it improved about 10-20% no real promising. Any how now here I am after the right ear surgery #7 which did not affect the hearing bones (the left was darn near destroyed) it was mostly in the mastoid and some deep digging had to be done to remove all the disease. The pain was worse this time as I can't remember back to the 1st surgery to remember if it was that bad but, a week later and all is going fairly well. This all leads me to this question. I have been using Ciprodex ear drops over the years as prescribed to fight back infection and after surgeries. As of late I have been having a reaction (Rash and itching) from the ear drops. I have discontinued use and contacted the Doc for further. Has anyone else ever used Ciprodex and had the same reaction. At 1st there was no issue at all but the now it is can a resistance or allergy develop over the years to this stuff? Let me know what you all think. Guest guest
hello kathryn i'm so sorry to hear that your baby died ...i've never been pregnant but i can imagine what great sadness losing a prenancy must be (for whatever reason). >My tongue is swelling more and I now have a distinguishable lisp ( - my tongue just doesn't sit properly in my mouth anymore. I've also noticed that the inside of my cheeks seem swollen too and there are distinguishable markings of my teeth on my cheeks ( have you been checked for glossitis? do you have a recent blood test for iron, vit b12, folate? deficiency in these causes the thyroid to struggle and glossitis might be a symptom of hypo. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/glossitis.html http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/001053.htm vit c will help support your adrenals and no doubt they have been propping up your failing thyroid. have you had auto-antibodies tested to see if you have hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease ..if you don't have that then it may be that with nutritional changes and appropriate supplements your thyroid could get back to normal ...that is what i have read at any rate and (anecdotally) i have heard of people who have got normal function returned. >*GP told me I was " subclinical " in January (TSH 10.4, T4 15.0), go away, carry on trying for a baby and come back in 6 months, got pregnant for 3rd time in March, TFT done at 7 weeks (May) thanks to sharp-eyed obstetrics consultant, scan 3 weeks later showed baby had died, TFT results showed TSH 11.4 T4 10.0 to my mind i'm sorry to say that your gp should be proscecuted for negligence and manslaughter. best wishes trish > > Hi all > > It's been a while since I first posted and I've spent the last 3 months recovering from my 3rd pregnancy loss, getting results from my obstetrics consultant and just waiting to see the endo consultant. I was quite annoyed as I first got a date of 6th August but then got a phone call from Medical Appointments that the consultant was no longer doing Friday clinics and they moved my appointment out until 8th September!!! So now it's only 3 weeks left to wait > > I will admit that I've been suffering with exhaustion but on the advice of a friend from another forum I bought a book on how to keep the thyroid healthy. I've started taking vitamin c and I've also made a few changes to my diet. I have felt the benefits, only mildly but now I'm just tired all the time instead of utterly exhausted. > > My tongue is swelling more and I now have a distinguishable lisp ( - my tongue just doesn't sit properly in my mouth anymore. One symptom I am quite pleased with is the eyebrow thinning. I barely have to pluck anymore ) > > I don't know what to expect from the consultant appointment, if anything really.* > > *GP told me I was " subclinical " in January (TSH 10.4, T4 15.0), go away, carry on trying for a baby and come back in 6 months, got pregnant for 3rd time in March, TFT done at 7 weeks (May) thanks to sharp-eyed obstetrics consultant, scan 3 weeks later showed baby had died, TFT results showed TSH 11.4 T4 10.0 >
