Guest guest
Thanks Jane for your insight. I am thinking of trying it. My MGB was May 3 2000 and while I have had a 100 pound loss, I have not lost anything but inches for quite some time. I like the concept of that program in that it seems to try to keep the metabolism up. I may have a revision, but I paid for mine and to consider a revision is just so expensive. Anyway, thanks for your input. I look so forward to meeting you at the picnic. I teach it and the women are getting great results (me teach diet classes... hahahaha - I still can't believe that one). However, for us who had the MGB I don't think this type of program is necessary. However, I do weigh myself often and know that if ever I would gain anything I would immediately follow the program for the short time. BTW.. I'm not the Jane you are thinking of. Guest guest
hey , I am struggeling with that issue also. I lost about 95 lbs and haven't lost in months. I know I don't eat right all the time, but I certainly DON'T eat whatever I want so I am very disappointed. I have BCBS and I am sure they wouldn't do a revision. I am at 195 and still need to loose at least 40 lbs. I am sure diet and exercise would work, but if I could commit to that, they I wouldn't have needed the damn surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
thanks for your input, I think keeping a list is a great idea. I am going to start that today and see what I come up with. Guest guest
, I understand that sticking to a " diet " previously was next to impossible for most of us. But -- you would be amazed at how much easier it is now. With me it is a matter of managing what I am eating and in the process learning to at least most of the time make the right choices. You know me --- the rabid Weight Watchers member! I don't always track my points but when I do I am amazed at how many points I have consumed in a day. It gives me a real insight into maybe why I'm losing slowly, etc. However, it doesn't always correlate ---- sometimes I am well within my points range and don’t lose (the dreaded plateau). However, I feel that if I stay with my program, on average be well within my points range the rest of this weight will come off - albeit maybe slowly - and I should have learned the things that I need to keep the weight off the rest of my life and be healthy in the process (which is ultimately the most important thing!) I am not saying that it is right for everyone but it is right for me. Could I have stuck to the program with the " help " of the surgery - at this point in my life I don't think so ------ but now I can! Hope you find something that works for you to allow you to " finish " --- that is all I want --- to be " finished " one time (and make it be the last time!) Good luck, in GA Curves Diet / In a message dated 8/12/01 10:23:48 PM Central Daylight Time, writes: << I read their book on weight loss. Have you used it? What is your opinion about it. Guest guest
I know what you mean , but at least it is 40 pounds, maybe you can psyche yourself up because that isn't A LOT to lose. I broke my ankle 10 days ago and am pretty laid up right now. I am PRAYING the inactivity doesn't make me GAIN. I move as much as I can and my upper body is getting stronger from pushing myself in the wheel chair! Gotta look at the bright side. We will get there one way or the other! Guest guest
Oh my goodness , I am sooo sorry to hear about your broken ankle!! That must be very difficult. I am going to try to write down what I eat and maybe that will help me. Whenever I see someone post that they eat all the time and have lost like 150 lbs, I actually feel like crying!! I want it soooooooo badly. Do you think we will get there? I hope so. Is there anything I can do for you while you are laid up? I work in Raleigh and can run errands or make some food for you or whatever else you need. home: 217-3486, work, 783-4662 Vellucci Curves Diet / In a message dated 8/12/01 10:23:48 PM Central Daylight Time, writes: << I read their book on weight loss. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your kind offer . Right now, we are in great shape. My neighbors have been wonderful. They have fed us EVERY meal since I came home from the hospital. I told them I was going to get a fake cast for after it healed and hang on to the wheel chair for all the great meals. LOL..I go back to the doctor tomorrow and HOPE I will get to graduate to a new cast....maybe one I can walk on...For now, I am lugging around a 20 pound plaster model. I will be easy to recognize at the picnic however... Curves Diet / In a message dated 8/12/01 10:23:48 PM Central Daylight Time, writes: << I read their book on weight loss. Have you used it? Guest guest
, Sorry to hear about your ankle. I broke mine in 1980 and if you ever noticing me limping that is why! I broke it every way you can break it and had it fixed complete with surgery. If you had surgery (and maybe even if you didn't) if it has only been 10 days I wouldn't count on walking on it just yet. I think it was 6 weeks until I got a " walking " version of the cast and a total of about 12 weeks in the cast. It has never been the same and will never be the same - there is about a 1-1/2 inch difference in the measurement of my ankles! Good luck! in GA Curves Diet / In a message dated 8/12/01 10:23:48 PM Central Daylight Time, writes: << I read their book on weight loss. Have you used it? What is your opinion about it. Guest guest
Oh ...that is what I was afraid of. I had a very bad break too and tore every ligament in my ankle. I did have to have surgery and a plate installed to hold the bone together. They say I will probably be in a cast for 8-12 weeks too. Then I get 3 months of PT I hear that is fun too. I was hoping to get my ankle back in good condition, I am so glad I have lost 100 pounds, at least. The doctor says this surgery was the best hope for getting back the ankle as good as he can....but not necessarily like it was...Who knows...this could be a blessing in descise...maybe it will be my ticket for a revision...you know needs to lose more weight...
