The grandkids were over yesterday and spilled red koolaid on the area rug. We just found it and it has soaked through to the cream color carpet underneath. I have tried carpet cleaner that says it takes red wine stain out..not, an dhave scrubbled with dawn and and tide, didn't do a thing! The landlord will have a cow the size of Canada if we can get this out. It is dead center of the room. Try to re wet the stain with Club Soda. Liberally pour salt over the

stain. The salt will draw out the Kool Aid and hopefully you can wipe up

the stain.

For about $39 at Walmart there is a mini bissel hand held spot Vac that

has been a life saver for us.

I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try ...

First suggestion: Spray a 50/50 mixture of ammonia & water onto the

stain. Place hot steam iron on top of damp towel covering the stain

and let it set for 30 seconds. Lift the iron and the towel. The

stain will have transferred onto the towel. This even works on old,

set in stains.

Another Method: Start with Dawn dishwashing detergent - the original

blue type. Add five or six drops to two cups of warm water. Dampen a

white cotton cloth with this solution and lay it over the stain. Then

place a clothes iron on top of it, set on " low " .

Let this sit for fifteen minutes, and don't press down. The red stain

will start to wick up into the cloth. You should see red on the

cloth. Fold it to use a clean part or apply a new cloth, and repeat

the process.

It takes patience to get red stains out of carpet, but even year-old

Kool Aid stains have been removed using this method. Repeat the

process again and again until there is no more transfer of the red

stain to the cloth. Rinse the spot with water, blot it up, and dry it

quickly. Quick drying prevents any stain deeper down from wicking up

to the surface.

Another site suggested: Lysol Antibacterial kitchen cleaner on a

fresh carpet stain will immediately get all the red out. (any color,

really) Just spray and dab it with a clean towel.

Would you email me & let me know which one works best? Thanks & good

luck! Cresanna

I don't know if this will help, as I have not personally tried it, but I've heard that vinegar is good for getting out nasty carpet stains. I would guess it's worth trying!

I wonder if one of those little hand held steamers would work? I

have one and it worked on old pet stains when my dd first moved into

her house. Don't know about Kool-aid, though. Do you have any

friends or nieghbors who have one that you could borrow? I don't

know how much they cost to buy. Got mine 5 years ago at Marc's, so

it didn't cost me very much there...

Just a thought

P.S I just read your posts and your life sounds as screwy as

mine!!!! Sounds like your camping trip was a hoot!!
