Down 80, wish it was more but grateful for what I have. I have not been on for so long because I have had a lot happening in my life. I work in long term care. My Director of Nursing left her position suddenly and her position was thrust upon me. This was in May. Since then I was charged with making many dramatic changes in how things are down at the facility. Several weeks earlier, I had received a phone call from a headhunter asking me to take the Assistant position in a nearby facility with the possibility of becoming the DN in 5 years when the current one retired. I laughed, and said no thanks, I know when I am well off. I had no desire for the position. I was called in to the administrator's office and told I was the Acting DN. So, I acted like a DN and got the position. We have had many areas to address in a very short period of time. I gave up sleeping and you know it doesn't take us long to eat. I had to give up something and keeping up on here is what I gave up(I have 1268 unread messages). I am grateful to have this opportunity and am aware that many people are depending on me. I am fully aware that without the surgery I would not have this opportunity. I did not have the energy that this has required before I had surgery. The downside is that I had 2 vacations scheduled that were cancelled as a result of the facility needs. I have hired a nurse to take over my previous duties and she started 2 weeks ago. This has helped to spread the burden. To those who worry about wt discrimination, I have hired 2 administrative nurses and they are both very large ladies >300#. Marie, I did get the anniversary card and appreciated it very much. I am glad to know that I have not been forgotten. Please keep me in your prayers. I will be very disappointed if you don't show up. I guess you have heard that had to have a revision (not MGB) and had a leak but I really don't know any of the details. I hope she is doing well I know she wasn't going to answer any e-mails until she went back to work. I had by accident lost your e-mail addy and was simply wondering how you was, please try to keep in touch and let me know if you're going to come to the picnic!! Guest guest Posted September 24, 2001 Report Share Posted September 24, 2001 Marie, Sorry, but I am unable to come to the picnic this year. I really wish I could be there, but it is not to be. I will miss it, as I really enjoyed it last year. Things are improving with my job, but I am on call this weekend. No, I have not had an upper GI. I have an appt with the NP for the end of Oct. I know the frustration of your lack of weight loss. I am only half way to goal so I want to do whatever I need to get there. So good to hear from you.
