Guest guest
Yes I too feel that way and I think it is a shame. We as parents are to fast to step in and help our children out and they too need to know some of the doing without. We can't see them do without and even society never lets anyone want. I feel that is the reason for so much crime today. People do not know how to wait and be patient. Young couples want everything their parents have worked a lifetime for and more to start out with and parents are so prone to do that. Guest guest
Also, you have to rely on personality and being a good person instead of the status coming from your wealth, a much harder endeavor! Not when you have as many personalities as SOME of us have to choose from... But you know , seriously, there is some truth in what you say. It is only when we are in an adverse situation that we really grow. Years ago, in downtown Raleigh, in a BEAUTIFUL office tower, they were removing a huge dead tree from the garden atrium. A friend asked why the tree had died when EVERY condition for it was perfect...He was told, that was the problem...the tree had no deep root system. The roots were so used to perfect soil, perfect light, perfect water that it had failed to thrive when planted in the magnificent atrium. I think of that all the time in rearing my boys. We try so hard to make life perfect for them and for us and it is only in the imperfections that we become strong...God sure has a sense of humor doesn't he. How hard it is to watch someone struggle and yet, we were made for struggle. I know there is a lesson in my NOT being one of the " lucky " ones to lose all my weight on the first surgery. I am not sure what it is, maybe it is the struggle, maybe it is the acceptance that I will need to make better food choices, and exercise for the rest of my life...Maybe it is patience....but it does have a purpose...That I know...
