Guest guest
I, too, crave sweets--starches. I am trying to eliminate them completely from my diet. I have never dumped from anything. The only thing that ever made me feel like I might throw up was fried rice at a chinese restaurant. This happened twice. Neither do fats bother me now as they did at first. I am off the orange team. I still need to lose 50 lbs. and have not lost anything to speak of in 9-10 months. I am 17 months out. I am going back to eating mostly protein this week to see what happens. It is hard to do. I am exercising like crazy and feel good, but sure would like to lose more weight. I have been trying to stick with WW, but have found it extremely hard to do. I am hoping to break a plateau with the high protein and then go on with the weight watcher program. Pat sweets Does anyone else that had the surgery crave sweets constantly. I have ever since I had the surgery but more so the past six months. I also crave starches all the time. If I don't have a Cappuccino Blast at least once a day some times twice I go nuts till I fill the sugar craving. Is this normal? And no I don't dump. Only from Ensure or Boost. I had surgery June 9th 2000 so IM a year and 4 months out and skinny as heck. IM happy but just curious why ??????

Guest guest
I think your blood sugar levels are fluctuating wildly, If you stay with complex carbo's, like bran, wheat, NO WHITE FLOWER OR WHITE SUGAR, those complex carbs burn much slower and keep your blood sugar levels consistent. I crave sweets also, I actually cut up an apple and pour sweetener on them and eat, I even add sweetener to my yogurt to make it as sweet as possible, lots of sweetener in my coffee (shush, don't tell anyone) and vanilla in my coffee to make it sweet. Of course, sometimes, if it is around, I'll have chocolate, but I never dump either from sugar, only from fats. sweets Does anyone else that had the surgery crave sweets constantly. Guest guest
Hey Pat, would you like my " diet " ? It is the old WW diet with fruits, veggies, protein, fats, and carbs. Let me know, it is the ONLY way I can loose weight. I have another 50 to loose also and I am 14 months out and can gain weight just like before when I pig out. Guest guest
I find that I crave something sweet after a meal. Nothing huge - just a bite of something sweet. And- so far nothing sweet has made me dump, either. I have to be very careful about fats, tho. I don't know how I will make it through this winter without my daily watermelon! Nothing satisfies me like ice cold watermelon. Margaret in St. Louis MGB 12/13/00 250 / 162 --- est945@... wrote: > Does anyone else that had the surgery crave sweets > constantly. Guest guest
Me too! I didn't have a sweet tooth until I had the surgery! Also, one of the foods that goes down easiest is french fries! Nonetheless I've still lost almost 100 lbs in less than 10 mos! Guest guest
I am going to WW right now, but finding it hard to stick to it. I think a week or two or three of high protein will perhaps jumpstart me and stop the cravings for sweets. I lost 4.4 lbs last week, so apparently it is. I think WW way of eating is the best around as it is so balanced. I want to stick with that over the long haul. Thanks for your offer!! Pat PS: I have gone to WW about 20 times over the years. Ironic isn't it!! I guess I have gone with just about every eating plan they have ever had. Plus, my husband can eat lots of WW recipes without ever realizing how healthy he is eating!! I have bought a couple of cookbooks with lots of healthy recipes. LOL Hey Pat, would you like my " diet " ? It is the old WW diet with fruits, veggies, protein, fats, and carbs. Guest guest
Maybe that means that I am absorbing them and you are not, which is a GOOD thing for you! Guest guest
, I eat sweets everyday. As a new post-op, I really didn't want any sweets. At about the 6th month post-op, I bravely attempted sweets and found I didn't dump from them or anything else. I think as long as we enjoy sweets in moderation it's okay. Guest guest
I only eat sweets that " time of the month " and not every month. The first time it happened was a couple of months ago, and hasn't happened since. I bought a kit kat bar, ate 1 piece of it, and gave the rest to hubby. If for some reason we have candy in our house, I'll have a piece, but not because I crave it. manda > > Does anyone else that had the surgery crave sweets constantly. Guest guest
Gosh.. I eat sweets all the time... but at least it is only a little and I enjoy it. I have been eating and eating lately and I have to admit, I am enjoying it. My new job has stimulated my appetite and they feed me well. I am full of energy... until about 4pm..... then I'm ready to sit down and relax. This is the first job I've had that has been good for me. I went to Loyd and s last night to look for a gown for Christmas. Their selections were not very good yet but did try on this floor length blue gown with these long narrow sparkley things and would probably get a small velvet jacket to go with it... if I got that one, but I'm going to keep looking. It's still early. But.. it was fun! Oh all you that live near Herndon, VA and are short. Dulles Town Center has opened up a new petite store! Very nice things too. aW Re: sweets I only eat sweets that " time of the month " and not every month. The first time it happened was a couple of months ago, and hasn't happened since. Guest guest
it is habit.... have a starlight mint or a SMALL sugar free hershey mini bar...or a piece of russell stover sugar free or hard candy the trick is one piece... i say use hard candy-- and NO BITING! make it last.... MGB does not stop you from wanting sweets. a LOT of people want something sweet after they eat it is called dessert! just try to resist. that is all you can do.... sooner or later the MGB gives us a level playing field and once again we are responsible for what we eat-- FORTUNATELY, it is a lot easier to modify behavior AFTER MGB than it was before MGB-- thank GOODNESS!!!! PS-- when i eat high protein i have less sweet " needs " so use low carb sweets as substitutes. be well! xoxoxo s in va > Hello, I am a little over 1yr post op and lately (for about a month or two), after EVERY meal I have this terrible craving for something sweet. Guest guest
Trish, Hi, try the low carb sweets and the low carb " Russel Stovers " chocolates. They have splenda in them and only have 0.2 carbs per bar. There are lots of sugar free/ carb free candy on the market now. Walmart carries a nice supply. Guest guest
Here are some low carb sweets I have used when needed! sugar free jello or pudding 1 cup with an adequate amount of whipped cream from the can ....almost no carbs and very filling. Another is fruit salad made with melons and I add 1 can of sprite or orange soda (sugar free) I pour over the slices of fruit and let stand in the fridge for about two hours so I know the carbonation is gone! (no, I dont drink the soda after!) Yummy and sweet with no sugars. When I am traveling I take sugar and carb free s chocolate bars in my purse, these are truly decadent and yummy!0 carbs and no sugars. There are many more out there but maybe this will help.
