Just to let everyone know that this bit of suffering is almost over, hopefully! The sore and then the breast did get infected; I started having bright red streaks across my breast and swollen lymph nodes in the adjoining armpit. I went in to see my acupuncturist. She took a look at it, and she felt like it was possibly the candida that had caused the sore which then did get infected. I don't I think the candida caused the sore, but I am positive that it got infected. Anyway, she did her " magic " with the needles and had me take massive doses of Vit C coupled with Crystal Star Anti-Bio. I continued to put colloidal silver on it topically and went braless as much as possible. That cleared it up. It's taken a while for the sore to actually close after the infection left. When you keep applying suction to a scab, it just doesn't stay closed, amazingly enough! But I think it is finally closed as of today. It's still a bit painful to nurse on that side, but as long as I keep him within a certain radius while nursing, things are ok. I did know from my previous nursing experience (18 mos with twins) that you keep nursing through the infections and clogged ducts (though this was definitely not a clogged duct). I had TONS of clogged ducts with my twins. I had a lot of problems with them in the beginning with this guy. Then someone told me to go see a chiropractor and get my ribs/sternum/clavicle area fixed. It did the trick. No more clogged ducts. If I only knew then what I know now! I did a major bout of mastitis from an infected/clogged duct when my twins were 10 months old, including a welt the size of a baseball and 104 degree temperature complete with delerium. That was the sickest I think have ever been in my life. Since then, I have been a paranoid nut about avoiding clogged ducts and mastitis. I don't want to relive that experience. Anyway, thanks to all who offered advice. I am glad I made it through this round of what my body is dishing out in its road to healing.
