Guest guest
, Yea!! Sounds wonderful. Can I be with you too? Your story sounds so much like mine. I got to 214 from 301 and am now at 229, it's scary. What do we have to do to get a revision? By the way, I was on the cruise with you. Guest guest
, I am always glad to see you post. You have the story that most closely matches my experience. I am glad to hear you are coming to the conference and understand about the clothing concern. I also gave away things prematurely and went from a low of some 16s to back into 20. It is frustrating to know that we have not done anything less than the others and yet we aren't where they are. I am anxious to see you again. Guest guest
I also had a hiatal hernia (I had suspected it before the surgery but it was confirmed when Dr. R got inside). Dr. R actually put a stitch in mine and it has been virtually no problem since then. This is what I found out about at Schatzki's ring. SCHATZKI'S RING - A congenital anatomic narrowing in the lower 1/3 of the esophagus that is the result of inappropriate embryological development of the esophagus. Symptoms include difficulty swallowing and chest pain (under the sternum). Treatment involves the use of a fiberoptic endoscope using a dilator to open up the narrowed segment of the esophagus. If it becomes a problem with swallowing they would open it up with dilators via an endoscopy - usually not a big deal. in GA Shea In a message dated 12/12/01 1:30:57 PM, sh@... writes: <<the report says I have a " small sliding hiatal hernia with associated Schatzki's ring " ......what ever that means?! I sent an email to Dr. Rutledge asking him if this is something I need to be concerned with, has anybody else had this?>> Hi , Sorry to hear about your upward trend in the weight department, but glad that Dr. R will take care of that for you. As for the hiatal hernia... I was diagnosed with a sliding-type hiatal hernia when I had my endoscope post-MGB. Wasn't experiencing any trouble, but when I asked about checking for bile and such, they were more concerned with the fact that I had reflux for so many years prior to my surgery and wanted to check for erosion, etc. The gastro doc said I most likely had the hiatal hernia way before the MGB...and was the reason I had experienced reflux before surgery. The weight loss and the reduced stomach will only help. The Schatzki's ring probably refers to a sliding-type hernia, but I don't know for sure. The gastro doc recommend eating smaller portions and the diet that folks with reflux are put on. I haven't had trouble with reflux since losing all the weight. Good to hear from you and congrats on receiving your degree! Tricia in IL

Guest guest
Hi : 20 years ago when I was having Gallbladder problems I saw a surgeon and he said that I had the sliding hiatial Hernia but everyone has one of those. I differed with him and he said they rarely caused any problems and most had them. Phyllis

Guest guest
<<Anyone hear about Shea and how she did with her revision? -Ginny>> I called the hospital at 9:00 this morning and they said she wasn't in the computer as having been admitted. I guess they don't assign a room until they come out of surgery. I was in Hickory all day trying to finish my shopping and didn't get a chance to get to the hospital. I tried calling after supper and got the nurse's aide. She said that was in the bathroom and she was feeling nauseous. She took my number and said she would tell I called. Since she didn't call me I figure she is not up to it yet. I will try again in the morning. If she isn't feeling well enough to be released, I will go to see her. Sorry about that! Guest guest
I went in to see this afternoon. She is on IVs and Demerol, and still in pain. She said Dr R fixed a Hiatal Hernia, that aggravated the nerves around it and is what is causing her pain. Hopefully, she can go home tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Phyliss, Yes, I did graduate on May 11th with my Bachelor of Science degreee from North Caroline Wesleyan College. My family flew in from Boston to attend, along with friends from Raleigh and Atlanta! It was very nice commencement. I saw Velluci there also, for her son was also graduating from NCWC. We went out to Angus Barn restarant in Raleigh and then back to my house for dessert. It was a wonderful day all around! Thanks for remembering to ask. I've been so busy, I havenot been sending emails to the MGB group list lately. But I'll be at the picnic this Saturday.....will you be there? I hope so, I'd love to see you again! {{{hugs}}} Shea On Wed, 29 May 2002 09:32:24 EDT Skinnywannabe@... wrote: Hi : Did you graduate and forget all about us. Guest guest
: Tell me more... Where will you be working? I am so excited. My son is moving into another new house and will be living very close to you. Have you had any sale prospects on your house there? Exactly when are you moving? My schedule for the next couple of weeks is pretty full but I hope Mickey and I can help you move or whatever you need us to do. Next Monday Beaty has a Dr appt and I usually go with melva to help but Bell south is coming to fix her phone line. So I don't know how that will work out. Tuesday I have apptment with Urologist. I have passed the stones so I don't know if I will have to have anything else done or not. Wednesday I have appointment with Gastroenterologist and am to have a colonoscopy and EGD scheduled. I think that is it for next week and then we are to be in Cary June 23rd for the week. Maybe I can help some time in there. Anyway we are looking forward to seeing you and hope to hear from you . e-mail me privately and I will give you my home phone numbers and cell phone number so we can talk. I know, I have unlimited long distance so give me your phonenumbers and I can call you without it costing anyone. Yes, I still keep in touch with Kim Her son got married last Saturday afternoon and the wedding was so sweet. Kim looked beautiful. She doesn't write much on this site but usually reads so if she didn't get the moving message I will call and let her know. Phyllis
