I've kicked lots of additions in the past few years but COFFEE, well I

have hardly ever tried. I love it!

I drink either Organic of some type - which is expensive $10.50 a pound

or Luzianne Coffee with Chickory. Most people don't like Chickory or so

they say but I do like it and have grown up on this type of coffee.

Should I concentrate on giving up coffee? I am going to be working on

giving up sugar...I don't use it and use Stevia instead but I know that

I am still addicted to sugar...it always lurks in the background. I

also joined the sugar website that someone sent recently....thanks.

I consider myself very healthy for my age, so I ask myself??? Why

should I give up coffee?

Hi Anne,

You are just going to have to convice her to go to 200 with you!!! Plain

and simple. LOL If you can dig up the chicory root easily, then you can

wash it thoroughly, split it lengthwise and dry it. Then when dried, cut

it into small chunks and place into your oven to roast at about 370 F or

188 C.

Try Herbalcom.com for the roasted chicory. Seems to be a fairly good price.

Hi ,

Yerba Mate contains caffeine and a fair amount of it too, I might add.

It also contains theophylline and theobromine all better known, along

with caffeine, as xanthine alkaloids, which are usually found in coffee,

teas, guarana and cocoa. These are the picker uppers in Yerba Mate and

the others. Though Cocoa has no caffeine.

Well let me put it to you this way. Caffeine in any form is not very

easy on your adrenals. I don't know about the effects of theobromine and

theophylline on the adrenals but I suspect they are not much of an issue

as we have not heard anything about them. I have used Yerba Mate in the

past and I must admit it didn't do much for me. Not like that cup of joe

does. I would think that in moderation it would not hurt as long as you

are not stressing over anything. You can offset the effects of caffeine

by using ginger, ginseng and licorice root and parsley leaf/root. These

are all specific for the adrenals in helping to normalize them and help

them to bounce back from fight or flight overload.

I think a cup a day maybe two max of Mate and teas would not hurt but

coffee I would stay away from. Of course I could put it this way, if you

feel you can't function or get going without your coffee, tea or mate

then you definitely don't need it as your adrenals are in desperate need

of your immediate attention and help. A person with properly functioning

adrenals needs to stimulant as they have all the energy they need to

keep them going all through the day.

Sorry but at least you are informed now. For anyone interested

I have placed the link to Dr. A. Dukes phytochemical web site in

the links section. At least I hope I have. LOL Good place to find out

what all is in those herbs and other things we consume. Has all the

constituents for each part of the plants whether it be root, herb, seed,

flower, rhizome or leaf. Also gives an amount of said constituent too so

you get an idea of how much is there.

Peace be with you.
