Hi ,

How are you? Kashi is supposed to help with wt. loss, from what I've read.

I really only started eating it once in a while. I've only had 2 of the

bars and am still on my first box of Go Lean Cereal, so I don't think I'm

over doing it. I might give the bars you suggested another try. I've tried

so many of them in the past 2.5 years and thrown away more than I've eaten,

so the Balance Caramel Nut bar is still my favorite. It has 30% Fat 30%

Protein and 40% carbs, which is considered balanced and has 210 calories.

Actually in eating these, I think I am taking in less carbs than in those

Protein Brownies I had made in the past. But they are so good too. I've

not made them in a couple of months, been too busy. The balance bars are

quick and easy and probably fewer calories.

Blessings!

I know that they are healthy cereals. I don't eat cereal. I do like hot plain oatmeal in the winter. I eat a form of a hot cereal most days, flaxseed meal, for the fiber I need on the truck. I take 2 T of flaxseed meal, 1/2 T peanut butter and add enough hot coffee to make a hot cereal.

I remember getting Muesli as a child now and then. We were never cereal eaters in my family.

I just got a box of Kashi Go Lean cereal, it has strawberries and oats and things in it, looks good, has 10g of fiber and 140 cals per serving ... I know I like the Kashi strawberry squares ... anyone else like the Kashi cereals?

I usually add a tablespoon to each bowl of oatmeal I make in the

mornings. It gives it a nice earthy flavor and a big fiber boost.

Another peanut butter in oatmeal lover! I start out with my 4-cup Pyrex

measuring cup and add about 10 raisins, 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup old

fashioned oats, the spoon of Kashi 7-grain, and a small banana. Pop that

in the microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. When it beeps I take it out of

the nuker and add a tablespoons of whole flax seed, teaspoon of ground

flax, a tablespoon of slivered almonds or walnuts, a tablespoon of cocoa

powder, and a measured 2 tablespoons of all-natural peanut butter. Mix

it all up, let cool to eating temperature, then dig in. This bowl holds

me for a good 4 to 6 hours.

On days when I " behave " and omit the nuts, cocoa and peanut butter and

just have frozen blueberries or 1/2 cup all natural applesauce or a

chopped apple, I'm starving again in about an hour. I really need the

protein of those nuts to hold me.

Did you really mean 'hot coffee' or hot water?

I MUST have protein and fat to make it. I love natural foods, nuts, nut-butters, butter, extra virgin olive oil, full fat cheeses and yogurt. Your cereal sounds yummy! I love my simple way of getting fiber in which helps with all my sitting, but I too notice that flaxseed with the addition of natural (no hydrogenated fats) peanut butter makes me able to go a long time without eating. And it tastes good too!

Another helper is broth with cream. Wow, I had forgotten about this, something I did many years ago. But a good meat broth with a spoonful of cream makes a fabulous snack, at about 50-60 calories. It is so satisfying to sip.
