If you have a PCP you can ask for samples. The only other option would

be do a search on the internet. It might be available from one of those

" new Rx required sites " . Hope you feel better...

I had this same problem...found myself with no insurance, but my stomach was

killing me after 3 days off protonix. Ask your doctor for samples for

protonix, he gave me about a month of of protonix and a month of Nexium. I

tried Nexium and I think it works just as good, if not better. Good Luck!

Sherry,

You could call your PCP. If you can't call Dana and they will call in a RX

at your drug store. Dana has helped out many times when I've need more

meds.

I've had to pay for my meds.

Sherry,

Talk to your PCP or their nurse. Sometimes they have samples that they

can share with their patients.

Not sure what company makes protonix, but most pharma companies have a

patient in need program. just log on to their website and you should be

able to get the info there. or call your local family dr. and see if

he/she has any samples. they sample that stuff heavy here.

good luck..

Nexium is very expensive, some insurance company will not cover that cost.

Dr. prescribes Protonix (which is just another brand name) to keep your cost

down.

GOOD NEWS is that Proctor and Gamble's version will be sold over the counter

the beginning of 2003.

I spoke to one of their reps yesterday and they are very excited, I am sure

all other makers will soon be able to follow.

Sherry, et al,

Also don't forget that many pharmaceuticals offer drug assistance programs to

help provide patients without insurance access to their drugs. There is

typically a qualification profile you need to match and sometimes it is on a

sliding scale, but I work with prostate cancer

patients and recommend that they look into such programs regularly. No all drugs

are covered and not all pharmaceuticals have such programs but it is worth

looking into.

Another source may be your state (or county) Medical or Social Service

Department. Many times they have such funding available (although I don;t know

if California does). I can look it up at work and give you some specifics if the

drug assistance program above does not pan out.

Sherry, I have had to order it from out of the country at a reduced

price ($35 for 90 days). You have to be real carefull where you order

it and that it is the same drug! Audry
