Guest guest
Here is a bit of info about a recent experience I had in a Demolition Derby at the county fair. There are pics in the Briefcase where the Picnic 2000 and Cruise Photos are in case this URL doesn't work properly. http://photos./bc/tricia_810/lst?.dir=/Demolition+Derby+Aug+ 26+2001 & .view=t I was the only girl in our class...there were 27 of us. Hubby was in the same class and they watched us closely, knowing we were married, b/ c there is no teaming up allowed...we HAD to hit each other! I ended up in 7th, beating my husband who has done this for the past 5 years (he has placed 4th before). He placed 13th this year after taking a pounding from 2 guys who got him up against the cement wall. It was fun, it was interesting, it was dangerous! The seatbelt does very little for you when you get hit from the side...I was on the passenger side of the car almost as much as the driver's side. My dash literally fell apart into my lap and I could no longer tell what gear I was in! We had friends and family (including our 4 kids) watching in the stands, cheering us on. They and others have asked if I planned to do this again. I did NOT like how I flew around in the car, and hubby says he'll put in a 5 point harness system to alleviate that. He really wants me to compete again, because he can't handle living with the Demo Queen...he wants the chance to beat me next year! LOL Seeing people's reactions when they realized I was driving in a demo derby was fun...especially the guys. Just another experience I would not have had if it wasn't for the MGB!!
