6 months! Wow! My doctor told me after 6 weeks I should be getting close to dissolved packing but I've been hearing varying reports from 2 months to now 6 months. My hearing is DEFINATELY improved over the old days, but that's not saying much quite yet as it was nearly nonexistent before. But it is very exciting! From: jojopease2 <jojopease2@...>Subject: Re: C/toma just been removedcholesteatoma Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 1:18 AM

I had my surgery November 2009. The loss of taste was like that for me for several months. My surgeon allowed me to wash my hair after a week.

The packing took 6 months to dissolve for me. It felt like I was on an airplane waiting for my ear to pop. My surgeon did reconstruction at the same time but hearing didn't get better for me.

Good luck...it does get better.
