Guest guest
I am 40yrs old and was diagnosed with my cholesteatomas almost 4yrs ago. I have twins and when they were little my son needed tubes in his ears. They are almost 14 now. He doesn't seem to have any problems now but my daughter has started having trouble with her ears. I thought it was from ear wax build up. When she would go swimming she would get water in her ear and sometimes we had a hard time getting it out because of what looked like ear wax. I took her to her ENT today and he said what he got out of her ear today was dead skin cells. ALARM BELLS went off in my head. He didn't seem too concerned and said everything looked tip top and to come back in 3 months. Now this is the same doctor that diagnosed my cholesteatoma and referred me to my ear specialist so I know he knows what to look for but still. Should I be concerned enough to just go ahead and get her in with my specialist or should I just wait it out and see what happens? I don't want to over-react but since I've lost all hearing on my right side with no hope of ever hearing on that side again and have moderate to severe hearing loss on my left side I tend to think the worse. Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks JO
Guest guest
I would most definintely take her to a specialist. It is so hard to miss cholesteatoma and it can do so much damage that it's worth getting things checked out.
