Guest guest
I had my first ctoma surgery in 1981 when I was 7 years old. It was a large one filling up my middle ear. Since this I have never had more than about 60 db hearing in this ear. I have never been able to use hearing aid and have always been told that It was not possible to do a reconstruction surgery. I have had to more surgeries after the first. Not until last summer when I came to a larger hospital I was given the possibility of reconstruction surgery. So no this monday I had a long surgery. They put in a titan-inplant, made new eardrum and did a skin transplant to make a more functional middle ear and earcanal. They also took fat from my tummy to cover up my bones behind my ear because they where very exposed and causing me pain in cold and windy weather. Now to the questions. Will the titan-inplants always work? How long will it take before I have reached my full potentional hearing? For how long have it been common to do reconstruction surgery with titan-inplants?
