I don't think I've ever read that Lady Jane Grey had any form of dwarfism - she

was only a teenager when she was executed and may not have been fully grown yet

so may have been petite but not dwarfed. Also average heights back then were

just a little smaller than now, not by much, but maybe enough to make petite

mean petite and not dwarfed.

Hi Marty, I think you may be mixing her up with her sister who was executed at a

rather young age for doing just what did and that was getting married

secretly. 's punishment was that she was put on house arrest for most of

the rest of her life and her husband imprisoned. died at around age 30 from

something like Pneumonia. was about 4 feet tall and most sources said that

they think she had dwarfism, though no one mentioned what kind. She definitely

had a spinal issue though some sources say she was a hunchback while others say

she may have had severe scoliosis.

The reason I am trying to gather this information is for a historical

novelist who is trying to write a book around this character that very little

historical information is known about but sounds like she had a fascinating

though rather tragic life. I figure if we can make a good guess as to what type

of dwarfism she had, we can figure out what types of medical hardships she may

have had to deal with in that era. Plus it would make the character more real

the more info we can get.
