She would ship it for additional costs...prefers to ship more than 1 shirt so if you only want a few I would be willing to ship it for you. She did say there was additional costs for shirts larger than XL. $2.00 per shirt. If you want a shirt that says " Cholesteatoma Sucks " let me know. Matt this is a wonderful idea you had. I am would like to place an order here soon. Let me know if you are in and want to order. If I can get an idea of colors and how many I can get a price quote and see if that is something we all want to do. We can have some say " I survived Cholesteatoma " and " I hate Cholesteatoma " or whatever...I know my family and several friends want to get shirts. So this is start...just thought I would throw the idea out there. If you are interested let me know. We could do possibly get shirts in different colors as well...I will call today and see what the good price break is and if they do shipping. Guest guest
I hadn't thought of that...so true!! I got a nice chuckle out of " Cholesteatoma is a pain in the ears " !! We could also design our shirts. Who knows this might end up being a big hit. We basically need 144 to get the good price break. I posted it to my Facebook as well because I have friends who are also battling with cholesteatoma. Hopefully we can get something put together here. Then for future orders she said they keep the screen and all you have to do is call up and order more...she even asked me what it was and talked to me about the group. I thought that was really cool and personable. Jenni > > > > > > I know Matt had mentioned a t-shirt of some sort and I have a local > > t-shirt company who does customized shirts. Guest guest
" Cholesteatoma sucks! " matches my personality better, but I wouldn't mind " ... is a pain in the ear " as an alternative. I just had my doctor visit this morning and got the word that he'll see me NEXT April! Whew! I even got to watch on a TV screen while my left ear while the resident vacuumed it - that was somehow less scary although my prosthesis is in the right ear. I would be interested in getting two size XL and I'll ask around ... my wife certainly thought this was a pain in the 'ear' ... just not quite in the same way. Guest guest
Oooh, I want some of those rubberband wrist things. Have they been ordered yet? What color are they? Maybe we should make them the same color as the nasty stuff that comes out of our ears? Maybe we should make them smell like the nasty stuff that comes out of our ears. Just kidding about the smell part.... Which brings back a memory. I have an office picture of myself and all my office team mates. In the picture, everyone has a big smile on their face...including me. BUT! I have this big stain on my ear lobe. The stain, which I did not know was there, is drainage from my ear. It is sooo embarssing! I'm sure everyone else saw the stuff on my ear lobe except for me. Guest guest
My hearing is very minimal. "regular" hearing aids just are not powerful enough for me so I have opted for the BAHA ( bone anchored hearing aid ) for both ears. I can hear relatively well with those. It is a life long process that started when I was about 8 or 9 yrs old and continues today as I reach the 50 mark !!! :-) From: Jenni - <moonshadow2447@...>Subject: Re: Re: T-shirt Idea cholesteatoma Date: Thursday, April 21, 2011, 4:54 PM I can get shirts that either of the sayings so if you want I will put you down for cholesteatoma sucks and if your wife wants a shirt with the other saying I can do that too. Guest guest
Hi I'd be interested in the T-shirt too ps I have ETD and have just been battling with a sore throat, hoarse voice and a sore and swollen neck (latter has recently gone down a little). Frustrated with my doc who isn't taking this seriously. Left ear tympanoplasty 9/2009
Guest guest
I'd definitely be interested in the " .....pain in the ears " t-shirt, XXL in my case. But I am in the UK so I realise that might disqualify me ! :-) ----------------------------------------- Planet Ink Club is a great way to save money and help the environment. Guest guest
,I am with you! I have been suffering from ETD for about 4 years now. When I had my c-toma removed I was hopeful that the plugged up feeling would go away, but no such luck. I'm tired of hearing, "there is nothing we can do for ETD". When I asked the doctor if the ETD is what caused my cholesteatoma, and we don't do anything to fix the negative pressure in my ear, then what stops a new c-toma from forming?? She said that is why we are monitoring you closely. So when it comes back they can take care of it? Why not solve the problem?? She pushed me off to an allergist and said maybe they can help you. And come back in 9 months for a check up. I am so frustrated, I know how you feel!!From: AJ <amandajlear@...>Subject: Re: T-shirt Ideacholesteatoma Date: Saturday, April 23, 2011, 4:43 PM Hi I'd be interested in the T-shirt too ps I have ETD and have just been battling with a sore throat, hoarse voice and a sore and swollen neck (latter has recently gone down a little). Some complain about the facebook group, having to scroll down to far to view messages. On the forum, all you'll need to do is click new posts ) I hope it will be just as successful as our & facebook group and look forward to seeing many of you there. It makes me so happy to see all the interaction and friendships formed and the bonds that we share dealing with this hidden disease!!! Thanks to each & everyone one of you that helps make this support group so terrific!!!>> I too like the "...pain in the ear" idea, along with a link to this forum.> > I am thinking of buying a few and will let you know how many next week.> > -Nate
Guest guest
Being in South Africa the exchange rate and postage costs are a bit prohibitive for us to participate in the t-shirt order. But we have found this group very helpful. My son had a check up yesterday. 1 year post 4-hour RHS op to remove serious c-toma and 6 months post LHS op to remove and reconstruct a smaller c-toma. We are declared clean and safe and are on 6-monthly visits now. We are discussing doing a reconstruction i the RHS ear within the next year to insert prosthetic ossicles to try to recover some of the RHS hearing (he only has a stapes footplate left). Our ENT is wonderful and we are forever grateful for his brilliant and friendly care. We discussed not getting to see each other as often now and we are planning a social outing instead now, because we have all become such good friends. (Our kids are in the same school too).
